theFreshScent + SmokeClear Giveaway!
February 23rd, 2007 by Alex
From time to time, a generous manufacturer will send us a big box full of their goodies. There’s no way that the tFS staff can use all of this stuff, so why not get it out to the people who’ll really appreciate it? You guys.
Today, we’re announcing our first giveaway.
The rules are extremely simple – leave a comment on this post (make sure to include a valid email address) and you’re entered to win. How simple is that?
There will be 3 randomly chosen winners who will receive the following:
- 1 customized theFreshScent / SmokeClear T-shirt
- 2 packs of SmokeClear Single-Wide Mini Papers
- 2 packs of SmokeClear King Size Papers
Not bad right?
There are a few basic rules – you must be 18 years or older to enter this giveaway, only one entry per person and you must live within the United States.
Winners will be announced in exactly one week on Friday, March 2nd.
Good luck everyone!
tFS – Transitioning Forward
January 17th, 2007 by Alex
It’s been almost an entire week since tFS has last been updated. Don’t worry, the government hasn’t kidnapped anyone (yet). The goal has been to re-focus on the core aspects of the site and what makes it one of a kind.
Despite life in general being extremely busy at the beginning of the New Year, the aim is to stay devoted and create more original content. This takes a lot more work behind the scenes, so I apologize for the lack of communication.
Starting next week, original content and product reviews are going to take precedence once again. This might mean a drop in overall post frequency, but it also guarantees a rise in content quality.
Still, it’s important what you think about tFS up to this point. If you have any questions or comments, things you would like to see covered or content that tFS should focus on – this is the post to comment on. Any direct questions will be answered by the tFS staff.
So, here’s to transition and taking the path less traveled. Stay tuned, we’ll be back next week.
State of theFreshScent
October 22nd, 2006 by Alex
A little confused? Wondering where the under-construction page went? Well, don’t worry about it, you won’t be the only one. On the bright side, you are now looking at theFreshScent v2.0! That’s right – it took a lot longer than expected, but once we got rolling on the re-design it was hard to stop.
Now tFS has been polished, buffed and waxed – it’s just waiting for you to come along and take it for a test drive.
What’s been done exactly? Well, let’s take a look:
tFS Headshop Locator v2 – address, phone, directions & 65+ locations
tFS Feed Valley – a new Counter-Culture aggregation service
Native Translation – fast, intelligent, intra-site translation
Site-Wide Streamline – faster loading, more options and more information
Product Breakdowns – how much, where from and what tFS editors rate it
New Peripherals – yep, all those side pages that no one remembers are now completely re-designed
Bug Fixes – archives, site navigation, and comments/trackbacks have all been fixed
That’s all the changes in a nutshell. You can find all the other stuff by browsing around. We believe the wait was worth it and hope you do too. Now, it’s time to look forward to everything in the future and further connecting the Counter-Culture community in its online presence.
Expect new content starting Wednesday, 10/25. See you then.

theFreshScent v2.0
September 20th, 2006 by Alex
theFreshScent is going to be down until the beginning of next week. We are switching hosters, fixing site bugs and generally moving the site forward in our master plan to rule the universe.
Seriously though, our goal is to make this site unique and publish content that isn’t available anywhere else on the web. Hopefully, you all stick around as we take the steps necessary to make our goal a reality.
See you soon.

Banksy – Barely Legal
September 16th, 2006 by AlexAs promised, we visited the Banksy – Barely Legal art exhibit on Friday, September 15th in East Los Angeles. We’re going to completely skip the whole ‘painted elephant’ controversy that seems to have been sparked. Instead, we’d like to take you on a photographic journey of the exhibit and offer our small insights into Banksy’s work and his artistic statements.
View theFreshScent’s Banksy Flickr Set for complete coverage.
Enjoy.
Damn These Bugs
September 13th, 2006 by Alex
Some off / broken functionality has appeared on the site lately. Specifically, the index reloads on certain posts and the archives is currently broken. Also, we are having an issue getting our translation system to work correctly.
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are well aware of these issues and are taking steps to fix them. Sit tight and we’ll drop an update as soon as there’s something to report. We might even throw in a few surprises while we’re at it…

Also, we’ve removed the big ass, stock markers and replaced them with something a little more streamlined and compact. One more thing, expect another round of location updates sometime next week.
Enjoy.
Banksy Schedules LA Event
August 28th, 2006 by Alex
Personally, I believe he is one of the most influential artists so far this decade. His stencils, statues, and museum placements are among the most original and daring works placed in the public domain. You can be sure that whatever Banksy has to say, he’s going to put it out there loud and clear for the world to take notice.
If you live in the Los Angeles area, come to the showing and say what’s up. It’ll definitely be worth it.
