Royal Blunts: Purple Haze
December 6th, 2006 by Alex
One of the newest flavors out of the Royal Blunts camp is Purple Haze. It’s hard to find a quality grape-flavored wrap these days, so I was pretty stoked when we got these in.

RB describes this wrap as a “grape and fruit blend that enhances any flavor.” Ooook, not sure what that means. Sounds like marketing hype to me. What the blunt actually smells like is Dimetapp, one of the most heinous substances known to man.
It’s an over-powering smell that gives off more of a synthetic grape than anything else. The blunt wrap burned great and had a sweet taste to it and luckily, no Dimetapp-esque flavor was lurking in the shadows.
Purple Haze isn’t the worst blunt wrap I’ve encountered, but it definitely isn’t the best. For a company that puts out so many winners, this one was a miss for me. What do you guys think?
Royal Blunts: Passion Fruit
November 1st, 2006 by Alex
Royal Blunts delivers some of the best flavors on the market. Just like other major players, their line-up is heavily filled with fruit based flavors – Mango, Peach, Strawberry and more. Passion Fruit is in the same category, and delivers like RB knows how.
First point, the wrap wasn’t dry, which is the only real drawback from Royal. If you spot any package designs with the see-through square be warned there’s a high chance it’s gonna be brittle as hell.
The smell is good on this wrap, not pinpoint accurate, but close enough to work. This wrap hits the usual notes after that – good to smoke, doesn’t add much flavor but the burned smoke does leave a good aroma. Royal Blunts has put together a solid product but it’s nothing that sticks out from the crowd.
Royal Blunts: Strawberry Banana
August 25th, 2006 by Alex
Royal Blunts Strawberry ($2) was the first offering released in their flavor line-up, so it’s a good place to guage where Royal started and where they’re headed. You can see the packaging has a small, see-through plastic window. I’m not a fan of this because it allows light to enter the tube packaging and dry out the leaf. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened with their product. The Strawberry leaf was the dryest wrap that tFS has ever encountered. This SOB was ripping at the edges and brittle as hell.
Helpful Tip: if your blunt wrap is obviously dry, slide the holder straw out from the middle before attempting to unroll the leaf. This will prevent hang-ups and tearing on the top and bottom edges.
After getting past the dryness, it was time to evaluate the quality. The strawberry was very subtle to smell, but this isn’t necessarily bad. You don’t need an aroma to punch you in the nose to smell good. The blunt tasted very sweet but didn’t add much flavor to the smoke, if any. It did burn with the normal Royal Blunts quality we’ve come to expect. Overall, this isn’t a bad blunt, I’d just like to see the packaging redesigned to make sure I’m purchasing a fresh product.
