Peruvian Police Seize A Shitload of Coke

December 16th, 2008 by Alex

guano_island.jpgCollection point, Guano Island, off the coast of Peru.

What’s with all the Peru posts lately? Well, here’s another…

On December 4th, a four month long investigation led to the seizure of 3 tons of cocaine which was mixed with guano.

That’s right, guano.

The real question is how did they calculate the weight of the cocaine mixed in with all the bird and bat shit?

Either way, the seizure also led to the arrest of 4 Peruvians and 1 Colombian. The guancaine, on the other hand, was destined for Spain.

I wonder how many other people all over the world have been snorting shitty nose candy? We’ll never know…

US / Peru Shot Down 15 Planes in Airbridge Denial Program

Who says the American government doesn’t come clean? It might take them a while… but they do get around to it. Eventually.

In the first public reports about the Airbridge Denial Program – a US / Peruvian operation to shoot down civilian planes identified by CIA spotters as narcotics transporters – we’ve learned the exact number of planes shot down. Fifteen.

Between 1995 – 2001, most of these airplanes crash landed in the jungle (and could never be checked for drugs), but in one post-shooting case an emergency river landing led to the discovery of Veronica Bowers and her 7-month old daughter. Both dead, both innocent.

The story goes on to tell about violations of aircraft interception procedures, obstruction of justice and potential criminal charges. Finally, some light is being shed on a government program that went too far.

Since we showed everyone how Macedonia gets down when it comes to destroying narcotics, we might as well keep the trend going.

This photoset shows police in Peru burning large amounts of various illegal drugs. To be exact, over 5 tons of cocaine, marijuana, opium and heroin.

This batch covers the last 4 months of Peru’s law enforcement efforts.

More pictures after the jump.
