In een recente toespraak, NORML activist Paul Armentano roept voor jonge mensen uit (vooral) om in de bestrijding van de Oorlog op Drugs aan te werven. Aanhalend dat 74 percent van alle mensen die voor marihuana worden gearresteerd onder 30 is, riep hij W.O.D., een „oorlog op u.“
Als u geïmpliceerd wilt worden, is de beste manier „om aan te werven“ op voor een medisch marihuanavoorschrift van toepassing te zijn en uw gemeenteraadleden te laten het weten u binnen wil een apotheek uw stad.

Volgens overheidsstatistieken, door Vrijdag Oom Sam zal 20 miljoen Amerikanen voor marihuanagebruik gearresteerd hebben. En er is geen teken die aantallen op om het even welk ogenblik spoedig zullen vertragen.
Maar neem het niet uit me, het uit NORML uitvoerende directeur Allen St. nemen Pierre:
Dit beleid is een enorm afval van belastingbetalers' middelen; het vernietigt het leven van miljoenen anders respectabele burgers, en bedreigt de persoonlijke vrijheden en de vrijheden van alle Amerikanen. Wij hebben nu meer Amerikaanse burgers voor pot dan de volledige bevolking van Massachusetts, Michigan gearresteerd, en gecombineerd Oregon.

Paul Armentano, een cannabis wettelijk deskundige en een lid van NORML (Nationale Organisatie voor de Hervorming van de Wetten van de Marihuana,) roept namen uit. Hij maakt een lijst van zeven gouverneurs (6 Repub., 1 DEM.) die enig-handedly onderaan hervormingen die marihuana of wettelijk zouden gemaakt hebben ontsproten of decriminalized.
Ga en nu zet daar wat druk op uw lokale vertegenwoordiger weg. Herinner me, moet deze beweging bij de wortels beginnen…

FBI gaf jaarlijkse misdaadstatistieken vrij die telden?872,721 Amerikanen arresteerden voor marihuanabezit in 2007. Bijna 90 percent van de gevallen was eenvoudig bezit. Verbazend, hebben 12 van de meest dichtbevolkte staten geneeskrachtige marihuanawetten, wat waar u niet voor bezit kunt worden gearresteerd.
De goede mensen bij NORML (Nationale Organisatie aan de Wetten van de Marihuana van de Hervorming) zet lang genoeg de pijp neer om sommige mooie verbazende berekeningen te doen. Het totale aantal vertegenwoordigt een vijf percentenverhoging, van vorig jaar, en werkt ongeveer uit aan één pottenroker arresteerde om de zevenendertig seconden.
New Mexico keurt Medische Marihuana goed

Vandaag is een goede dag om in New Mexico te leven.
Het Medelevende van het Gebruik Erin Akte van Lynn en, otherwise known as Senate Bill 523, was signed into law on Monday, April 2nd.
This will positively affect the lives of thousands of sufferers who can use medicinal marijuana to improve their day-to-day lives. I know that NORML has been lobbying hard for this one, and they finally got the reward.
This bill not only legislates a medical marijuana program, which will be run by the state Department of Health, but also “protects medical cannabis patients from arrest and state criminal prosecution.”
Although this bill does not allow patients to grow their own medical marijuana, it is a positive step no matter how you look at it.

The Hemp Fields of China
March 7th, 2007 by AlexI really enjoyed this video clip of one man’s travels through one part of China checking out hemp fields and the advantages of the plant.
I think you’ll be surprised at how many applications hemp can be used: clothing, paper, rope, as well as houses entirely made out of the stuff! It makes you take a second look at how much hemp can be used to save (at least a fraction of) our depleting natural resources.
This clip also has some other interesting facts about hemp labor laws in China. You won’t find any child labor here as they keep strict laws to maintain ethical treatment to their employees. One more thing, wait for the surprise at the end!
NORML: 2006 Year in Review

The majority of these issues have been covered by tFS. Out of all of these articles, I would have to pinpoint the highest arrest rate ever as one of the most striking issues in 2006. It cements the fact there is still so much to be done in the quest for legalization.
So, here is NORML’s list of most influential events for 2006 (in order):

The numbers are out and it looks like things aren’t changing for drug offenders anytime soon.
The government just released its Uniform Crime Report for 2005 and marijuana arrests have hit an all time high. The sheer amount of arrests is staggering, but there are some other scary numbers when you examine the facts:
- Marijuana arrests account for 42.6% of all drug arrests
- Exactly 88% of those arrested were changed with possession only
- A marijuana smoker is arrested every 40 seconds
Pretty scary huh? Let’s hope that the Marijuana Policy Project, SAFER Colorado and other like minded organizations can change the tide in this seriously uphill battle.
