Drug Traffickers Overload on Cartoon Network
July 1st, 2009 by RickBack in the day the only thing that looked like a Flintstone vitamin was a Flintstone vitamin. Nowadays the illegal drug traffickers and manufacturers within Missouri have come up with some ecstasy tabs that take the shape and appearance of certain cartoon characters like Snoopy, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and even one non-cartoon character in the form of U.S. President Barack Obama.
Authorities are concerned about children mistaking the drugs for candy or vitamins. The drugs are currently in Kansas City and reportedly on their way to St. Louis.
Darius Miles Loves the Weed
May 15th, 2009 by Erin
What is it about playing professional basketball that just makes one want to spark up a doobie?
Memphis Grizzlies forward Darius Miles was arrested around 10:20pm Wednesday night in St. Louis after he turned without using a turn signal and officers discovered that he had a suspended license. After the vehicle had been towed, less than 2.5 grams of marijuana were found in his 1996 Chevrolet Impala. Yes, less than an eighth.
Miles was free on a $100 bond on Thursday. The 27-year old was suspended without pay for 10 games while playing for the Boston Celtics last season after violating the NBA’s anti-drug program.
MMJ Law Changes for Missouri, Montana
January 21st, 2009 by Perry
A bit of good news and a bit of bad news this week for marijuana activists.
The good news: Medical Marijuana may be that much closer to reality for patients in Missouri.
State Representative Kay Meiner (D-Kansas City) introduced a bill which would allow MMJ for patients suffering from deblitating diseases such as AIDS and multiple sclerosis, arguing that if addictive pain killers can be prescribed, marijuana should also be allowed.
The bad news: Registered medical marijuana patients in Montana will now be considered ‘under the influence’ (aka the dreaded DUI) if found driving while high on marijuana. The law also goes one step further and gives the arresting officer the right to revoke a driver’s MMJ registration card for refusing a field sobriety test.
From a purely legal point of view, I understand the harsh response to operating motor vehicles under the influence of narcotics, but taking away a patients access to his or her medicine seems counterintuitive. Believe me, if you get tagged with a DUI, you’re in for enough suffering as is – court time, lawyers, fines, community service – it’s no fun.
Here’s full text of the Montana law, which is one of 13 states to legalize marijuana for medical use.
