Mountain High: King Size Cones
March 15th, 2007 by Alex
There are many devices being made that allow the smoking experience faster, easier and better. Some prefer the ‘by hand’ method of rolling, but not everyone. Today, I’m reviewing Mountain High: King Size Cones, the original pre-rolled smoking papers.

Moving into the cones, they are thin (semi-transparent) rice papers. They come in packs of 3 and each one has the ‘Cones’ logo embossed into the papers themselves. One thing that stands out is the extremely long filter. Luckily, due to the size of these cones and their expansion, you can still pack more than enough into these things.
The cones taste and smoke well, just like your regular unflavored king size. Worth noting is the build quality, with no creases or air leaks on the seam.
Overall, these cones provide an avenue for people low on time to roll up a high quality joint. They’re made for a purpose and perform it well.
SmokeClear: King Size

The cellulose paper industry is starting to take off. Not only are they healthier for you, but everyone is still in love with the novelty of see-thru papers. Today, we’re starting off with a review of SmokeClear King Size papers.

| Category | Papers |

| Made In | Brazil |
| Pros | Perfect burn time |
| Cons | Hard to find |
| Price | $3.00 |

Packaging on these appears to be higher quality than aLeda’s. The tabs fit together correctly, for a tight seal that won’t unlock in your backpack. They should be stored in a cool, dry place should you want to leave them for a while.
The leaves themselves are 95% transparent and carry the other traits of cellulose papers – odorless, tasteless and low-key design. Each pack comes with 40 papers that measure 3.5×11 centimeters. If you’re unsure of how plant cellulose feels, imagine a very thin & light plastic film.
The first thing you notice when rolling with the king size is that these suckers are strong. Seriously strong. Each film even passed the dreaded karate chop test, which tells you these things are built to last. When smoked, the performed exactly as advertised with absolutely no taste or odor.
These papers allow you to focus on what’s being smoked, with no interference along the way. When a product delivers exactly what it promises in the first place, you have no choice but to be satisfied. These are the best transparent, cellulose papers that I’ve encountered so far.
Kulu: King Size

Our lead off product review of the week is something that a lot of you might not be aware of – Kulu King Size. Although this manufacturer actually produces a variety of papers, they aren’t stocked in many local headshops.

| Category | Papers > King Size |
| Company | Kulu |
| Made In | European Union |
| Pros | Good size, burn slow |
| Cons | Tough to find |
| Price | $2.00 |

Initially, I believed these to be the regular ‘no smell & no taste‘ style of king size. This doesn’t hold true after you smell the papers. It’s hard to describe, but the scent is something you’d expect on laundry freshener or something similar – think Spring Breeze.
The papers themselves smoke great. They’re slow burning and large enough to hold together a fat one. Flavor isn’t added to the smoke, but the aroma given off is fresher than normal. The rice papers are just the right thickness and come embossed with an interesting print of a horseman.
As far as king size papers go, the Kulu’s are top notch. I’d put them right up there with Smoking brand as the best reviewed so far.
Zig Zag: King Size

These French made rolling papers come packed with 32 leaves of slow burning goodness. Each leaf is made out of first-class materials; flax – a natural and environmentally friendly luxury fiber, mountain water from the Alps, and natural gum arabic. There isn’t much else to add, everyone knows what Zags deliver and that’s consistent quality.

It’s hard to have anything negative to say about these papers. Personally, they are one of my absolute favorites. You don’t always need special scents and added taste to have a really high-quality session.
