The glue is decent and the burn quality is regular.

There are just some things in this world that shouldn’t exist and bacon-flavored paper is one of them. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these papers, don’t recommend them to friends and don’t even use them on your enemies. Well… maybe your enemies.

Juicy Jay’s: Blackberry Brandy

Juicy Jays Blackberry Brandy

The combination of berry and brandy creates a winner out of these Juicy Jay’s papers. They measure 3″ x 1.75″ and contain 50 leaves. Just as flavorful as Peaches & Cream, these papers give off a blueberry tang on your tongue and a similar bite in your lungs.

The brandy offsets the sweetness, creating a nice blend that will stimulate all of your taste buds. Smoke-ability is generally above average with Blackberry Brandy as tFS has yet to find any with a bad batch of glue. If you’re a fan of powerful flavors, Juicy Jay’s has done you right on this one.

Juicy Jay’s: Green Apple

Juicy Jays Green Apple

Juicy Jay’s Green Apple papers give you a decent smoke with some extra style. The papes are decorated with small green apples (surprise), measure 3″ x 1.75″ and come with 24 leaves. The aroma is pretty similar to summer apples and an added sweet taste make these papers true to their name. Glue quality is average, as there is always the chance of a bad batch, and the burn quality is pretty average too. Overall, this is a nice paper to use once in a while, but nothing to get excited about.

Juicy Jay’s: Marshmallow

Juicy Jays Marshmallow

If something has a distinct flavor, Juicy Jay’s is going to find a way to turn it into a rolling paper, and here we have a perfect example. Who can resist anything that tastes like marshmallows? In this case, we have the same issue as with the fudge papers. They smell and taste only reminiscent of marshmallow, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

These Jay’s papers match up with the rest of their kin by measuring 3″ x 1.75″ and containing 50 leaves per booklet. The burn is even, the glue is strong, and the papers have marshmallows on them. If you’re looking for something different that isn’t going to mess with the taste of your smoke, this is a nice change of pace.

Juicy Jay’s: Fudge

Juicy Jay's Fudge

These chocolate temptations come straight to you from Spain. They measure 3″ x 1.75″ and contain 50 leaves per booklet. Juicy Jay’s Fudge papers smell true to their name, but the taste is only reminiscent of fudge, not dead on target. These papers don’t add much taste to your smoke, but they burn evenly and get the job done. Design wise, they are packaged with a brown camouflage pattern and give off a hint of chocolate while smoking. Fudge papers are nice once in a while, but don’t make them a centerpiece of your collection.

Oh So Scientific

What a Scientific Test...

Today I was doing my usual browsing goodness, looking at old and new products, when something caught my attention. Elements Rice Papers (which happen to have the cheesiest tag line ever, but that’s for another day) actually put together a product comparison test to show off how much better their papers burn. Now, I’m all for well thought out and non-biased tests run by a host company, but it never seems to turn out that way.

Most frequently, the companies doing these “comparisons” slant the test to get favorable results. If you pay attention, this one by Elements falls into the slanted category too. Why would you compare thin, rice based papers to any regular old brand? What does this tell me? That papers designed to be thinner are thinner? Way to go guys. Instead, they should run the test against something similar that would actually create an apples to apples comparison. Some good papers to test Elements against would be Smoking King Size - Reds, Eco, or De Luxe.

This graphic and the test behind it are nothing more than eyecandy - looks pretty on the outside but doesn’t mean a damn thing overall.
