NORML-y Crooks

June 30th, 2009 by Alex

CrooksNORML.jpg

There are only so many original names, acronyms and phrases out there in the world. If you read this blog and see the letters ‘NORML’ next to one another, 99 times out of 100 we’re referring to The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

Welcome to the 1 in 100 mention – a shirt collabo between LA-based Crooks & Castles and Canada-based NORML.

The drop takes color palette inspiration from the fixtures of the upper crust fashion world; Gucci and Versace for instance. The use Crooks’ iconic medusa head design and come in 3 different colorways. No word on if they’ll be available online, but there are available in-store at the NORML shop.

Cop ‘em while you can.

Bape Drops ‘Neon Camo Hemp’ Gear

May 29th, 2009 by Alex

Depending on which side of the fashion spectrum you sit, Bape has launched a hemp-based pattern assault on the masses. Dubbed the ‘Neon Camo Hemp Accessories Collection’ (that’s a mouthful), the drop consists of a messenger bag, backpack and two different styles of tote bags.

Each piece sports the classic Bape gorilla-face camo in two-tone brown/beige with black trim. A small, but nice, touch to the messenger bag is a reflective stripe — theoretically to make someone who wears Bape gear easier to spot and tag with your SUV.

No specific release date yet, but keep checking Bape stores and web accounts until they show up.

King Stampede: Summer ‘09 Drop

April 29th, 2009 by Alex

king-stampede-summer09-01.jpgDude on the left, you’re doing it wrong.

Temperatures are rising and plenty of brands are starting to drop their summer looks to retailers across the country. King Stampede — known more for their fitted cap variety & strong pattern design — are coming out with a specifically West Coast flavored summer release.

Based out of Brooklyn, NY, it looks like King Stampede is refining their look with an emphasis on clean branding & strong lines. Cut & sew button-ups, tees and shorts all made it into this drop — so expect them at KS retailers in the coming weeks.

It’s interesting to see an East Coast outfit drop by Santa Monica to take the majority of their lookbook imagery. I wonder if any West Coast labels are going to flip the script and visit coastal New York for their summer flavor. Something tells me no…

You can grab KS gear here or check out the two more images after the jump.

Asher Roth x UNDRCRWN: College Upperwear

February 12th, 2009 by Alex

Looks like the collabo game is still going strong.

Basketball oriented streetwear brand UNDRCRWN has gotten together with Asher Roth to create a varsity themed upperwear drop.

Most known for his mixtape The Greenhouse Effect, Asher and his friends are all over The Daily Kush with new music and fresh videos.

The collection isn’t super cheap, as with most UNDRCRWN gear. Here’s the pricing:

The College Tee retails for $20, College Crew is $40, Wool Varsity Jacket with camouflage lining is available for $400 and the Branded Sweater is $350.

Yes We Cannabis

January 8th, 2009 by Alex

yeswecannabis.jpg

We’re safely in the age of Obamamania – South Park episodes, Obama water, and now Obama election logo legalization tees.

Yes We Cannabis has created a line based off the popular Obama ‘O’ logo. So far, the run includes tee’s and 2 different button designs.

It’s interesting to see these sorts of designs emerge with the changing of the Washington guard, and a sign of optimism, especially since the Obama administration is extremely hard to gauge from a legalization point of view.

They have selected both progressives and conservatives to fill administration positions that might shape marijuana policy, so only the future will tell if there’s going to be “Change we can breathe in.

Semi Off-Topic: I watched an excellent 2 part video on the actual conception through design process of the Obama ‘O’ logo. It was done by a group called VSA Partners. Check out the videos (with some extra info) via VSA’s website or you can see them after the jump…
