The Product That Couldn’t

August 11th, 2006 by Alex

Chronic Cologne

Today we have a product that would have definitely been featured in our Top 10 Most Unusual CC Products list, but Chronic Cologne never made it through the manufacturing process. If cologne that stinks like chronic isn’t unusual, and pretty stupid, I don’t know what is.

The tag line reads, “one hit is all it takes.” Usually, the whole point of cologne and air fresheners is to not smell like that herb you just puffed. I think these guys had it backwards. Maybe the instructions go something like this; 1st – irritate your eyes so they’re nice and red, 2nd – apply 1 “hit” of Chronic Cologne, 3rd – speed while driving, 4th – try and explain your way out of a nice warm jail cell.

No thanks.

It’s a good thing Darwin stepped in and killed this product before it ever hit the shelves. Now if only we can get CK1 discontinued…

Orange Chronic Air Freshener

Orange Chronic Air Freshener

Smell is heavily intertwined with memory and the emotional recall of events. One thing we all know about the green is its powerful and pungent odor. As much as we all love smelling freshly burnt herb, having that smell hang around the next day isn’t too pleasant. And in some cases, for you stealth smokers out there, you need to mask the odor almost immediately. If only there was an air freshener made specifically for weed smokers!

In steps Orange Chronic – the homegrown in California, all natural air freshener. This non-aerosol based deodorizer boasts, on the label, immediate results and up to 600 sprays per bottle. tFS decided to put these claims to the test by experimenting in open rooms, closed rooms, leather cars and non-leather cars. The conclusion is that Orange Chronic is a powerful air freshener with a great citrus scent, but not the end all and be all that it’s built up to be.

In open air tests, the OC did a great job – completely removed all odors in the first 2 sprays and the smell did not linger. In closed tests, the room and non-leather car interior, you could still smell some heavy dank hiding in the air. These tougher conditions took at least 2 rounds of spraying to completely remove the aroma, and the next day, the chronic smell still lingered.

Orange Chronic is about as good as it gets when it comes to specifically tailored air fresheners, but I’m still hoping for something that delivers 100% on the removal of dank smells. Still, this is a step in the right direction, and supporting a local company that manufactures a strong product is the right way to go.

Da Bomb Blunts: ‘California Chronic’ Peach

July 31st, 2006 by Alex

Da Bomb Blunts: Peach

Peach is a fine fruit that goes well with any summer day. Turning this flavor into a wrap was a logical step and Da Bomb Blunts has done it successfully. With sweet and aromatic leaves, this blunt can compete with the entire DBB catalogue. The peach scent is spot on and its flavor has been lightly infused with the fruit’s essence. These aspects combine to create one well-rounded experience. All in all, it’s hard to go wrong with this wrap.
