Banksy: The Village Pet Store & Charcoal Grill
October 20th, 2008 by Alex
Wooster Collective has given us a great view into Banksy’s first East coast show.
Unlike the massive Los Angeles affair, which theFreshscent covered here, this new Banksy experiment is in a 300 square foot store in New York.
Oh there’s one other slight difference… this show is filled with animatronics. Not content with graffiti, stencils, sculptures or Paris Hilton paraphernalia – Banksy unleashes swimming fishsticks, chick-in mcnuggets and more mind bending creations.
According to Wooster, The Village Pet Store & Charcoal Grill runs from 10am until midnight, every day, and is open to the public. Get down to 89 7th Avenue between West 4th and Bleeker Street before Halloween (October 31st) to catch the action.
I’ve dumped a boatload of media after the jump, pictures and videos galore.

tFS Debris – 11.26.06
November 24th, 2006 by AlexIt might be a holiday week, but there’s still a lot going on all around us. As always, our Friday debris is a way of showing off those choice morsels we feel make the cut. So, click around, I’m sure you’ll find something interesting.
The Video
Banksy In Disneyland: Not everyone thinks Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, especially our friend Banksy. Tim & I got to see an extended version of this video at his show in Los Angeles and it definitely makes a point.

Zen Garden: This Japanese style mansion, off the coast of Cape Cod, doesn’t exactly fit in with the neighborhood. Still, it was made without a single nail and sits on a cool 7 acres of gorgeous land. I’ll take two. [via Luxist]

Marc Emery on CBC TV: This video shows why Marc Emery is the premier face of the legalization movement. He’s intelligent, well-spoken and just sounds like a cool guy to smoke out with. On top of that, he makes some great points about the US government, extradition and legalization in general.

Art Army Action Figures: These awesome and insanely detailed action figures are the product of Michael Leavitt’s skilled hands. Made out of synthetic clay and elastic, these 6″ to 12″ tall figures pay homage to all types of famous artists – both dead and alive. [via Wooster Collective]

Banksy – Barely Legal
September 16th, 2006 by AlexAs promised, we visited the Banksy – Barely Legal art exhibit on Friday, September 15th in East Los Angeles. We’re going to completely skip the whole ‘painted elephant’ controversy that seems to have been sparked. Instead, we’d like to take you on a photographic journey of the exhibit and offer our small insights into Banksy’s work and his artistic statements.
View theFreshScent’s Banksy Flickr Set for complete coverage.
Enjoy.
Banksy Schedules LA Event
August 28th, 2006 by Alex
Personally, I believe he is one of the most influential artists so far this decade. His stencils, statues, and museum placements are among the most original and daring works placed in the public domain. You can be sure that whatever Banksy has to say, he’s going to put it out there loud and clear for the world to take notice.
If you live in the Los Angeles area, come to the showing and say what’s up. It’ll definitely be worth it.
