Drug-Running Grandma
December 2nd, 2006 by Alex
Note: This isn’t the busted granny.
There are plenty of habits that are bad for you and plenty of habits that can get you into trouble. Now we can add bingo to the list.
A 61 year old granny, Leticia Villareal, got busted with 214 pounds of marijuana in her trunk. State troopers confiscated the 10 hidden packages when she was pulled over in Bisbee, Arizona. Why did she have it on her in the first place? To pay for an extreme bingo addiction.
Prosecutor Doyle Johnstun said this:
People who play bingo almost every night of the week end up losing in the long run. The underlying issue is that she’s got a bingo problem, which explains why an otherwise nice person might get sucked into something like this.
I’m not sure about anyone else, but if it comes down to drug running or not playing bingo - I’m going to choose the latter. Now Leticia faces up to 12 years in federal prison.
Bingo is one hell of a drug…

1,000 Plants Destroyed in Arizona
September 14th, 2006 by Alex
On September 6th, Arizona law enforcement discovered at least 1,000 healthy marijuana plants hidden in Horse Thief Canyon. Wrapped in bundles, it was obvious that these plants had been tended to carefully by growers - none of whom were caught. The crop was air-lifted out of the canyon and destroyed 15 miles from where it was found. In the picture above, you can see that all witnesses were standing downwind during the burn session. Coincidence? I doubt it.
It has become a growing trend in Arizona, and other west coast states, to hide large crops of marijuana in National Parks. The terrain is remote, the soil is great for growing and surveillance isn’t as likely. Over the past 2 years, law enforcement have discovered 12 grow sites with the majority being tended to by Mexican nationals.
To be sure that no other crops are growing in the area, investigators are going to sweep the entire canyon. Let’s hope that, with the increased bust rate, these Mexican cartel supported growers are sent the fuck outta here.

1,835 lbs. of Marijuana Found
August 14th, 2006 by Alex
The marijuana was found in a completely empty house and no arrests have been made. The load was hidden behind a false wall in a secret room. Now, if you go through the trouble of bringing almost a ton of marijuana into the country, rent/buy an empty house, create a false wall and secret room - don’t you think it would make sense to cover up the smell just a little?
I mean, is it surprising that 1 ton of herb is going to stink up the neighborhood? No. Drug dealers always manage to miss one crucial aspect of hiding their stash, and this one has cost them dearly.
