November 21st, 2008 by AlexBeing green doesn’t always mean being herbal, so let’s finish off the week with some funny.

Coast Guard Goes Pot Fishing, Nets 5 Tons
November 21st, 2008 by PerryThat’s right, 10,000 lbs. of weed, just floating around in the ocean.
The bundles of marijuana were found by the coast guard who noticed suspicious activity on a speedboat. When officers approached the speedboat, the crew of the dubious watercraft began to speed away into Mexican waters, presumably dumping the load to lighten the boat’s bulk and essentially avoid arrest.
US law enforcement can’t pursue internationally, so the shady vessel got away, sans reefer.
YouTube Gem: Grow Weed & Make Hashish
November 20th, 2008 by AlexWho wants to kill some time and gain some knowledge? Well, here’s your chance.
While digging through YouTube I ran across a classic 4 part series titled - How to Grow Weed & Make Hashish.
This calmly narrated series covers the whole spectrum of growing. Let’s break down the contents:
- Part 1 - ideal set-up, grow room preparation and soil mixtures
- Part 2 - further soil prep, seed interaction and plant sexing
- Part 3 - plant care, maturation, pruning, drying and cloning
- Part 4 - hashish, sifting and baking
Overall, this series is kick ass, and the techniques are timeless. It’s definitely a good watch.
Catch the other 3 parts after the jump.
High: The True Tale of American Marijuana
November 18th, 2008 by PerryNovember 18th is the DVD release date for High: The True Tale of American Marijuana.
I know you’re probably thinking, “ugh, another marijuana documentary,” but don’t be so quick to judge, you might enjoy the film.
Yes it’s propaganda, but there seems to be a little more validity for pro-marijuana material because its aimed at the spread of information and tolerance, not disinformation and persecution.
This particular story has some interesting first and second-hand accounts of people caught up in the drug war, or who had their lives ruined by it. I’m sure there’s some footage in this film you haven’t seen in a dozen other weed documentaries. Sometimes it’s important to put faces and emotions next to the issue, instead of just numbers and history lessons.
Check out a quick trailer above or go to High’s website for more information (and a pretty cool blog).
NORML CON 2008
November 17th, 2008 by AlexAlthough this video won’t make anyone grip their seat in suspense, it’s a good example of the more advanced dialogue that goes on between active members of the marijuana reform movement.
Above is a talk that involves the bias of mainstream media in its presentation of cannabis to the public. You could also listen to Rob Kampia talk about pot and politics.
Or, find something interesting in this long list of NORML CON 2008 videos.
Gore Dances Around the Topic of MMJ
November 10th, 2008 by PerryIn hindsight of how lame George Bush is / was, it would be interesting to see a world in which Al Gore was President for 8 years.
Still, I understand why Gore lost. The guy rarely takes a firm stand on anything. He seemingly waltzes around issues on his own network (with climate change as an exception,) nevermind that this guy was Vice President in 1996 when MMJ got started in California!
This would have been a much more interesting marijuana dialogue if Kevin Rose of digg asked Gore about how he felt about marijuana after his son was busted with pot in a Prius.
Maybe next time…
Courting Condi
November 7th, 2008 by AlexWith a President-elect sitting in the wings, a new administration is waiting to take over the White House. We’ve all been focusing on Obama & McCain these past few months, but what about Bush? And more importantly, what about that strikingly beautiful Secretary of State with the beguiling smile?
These are questions I don’t have the courage to answer, but a man by the name of Devin Ratray does, and he filmed the epic journey that ensued.
In a self-billed romantic/political/biographic documentary, Devin asks one simple question:
Can one man with a dream win the heart of the world’s most powerful woman?
I have no idea, but Courting Condi should be fun to watch…
Lighting Up to Celebrate the News
November 5th, 2008 by PerryWhether you’re black, brown, yellow, white, all smokers love to celebrate good news the same way… by smoking. Great clip of the newscasters’ feigning disbelief at their on-the-scene reporter getting large whiffs of the green stuff inside the Century Plaza Hotel ballroom.
C’mon, don’t look so surprised guy, it’s L.A.
