It seems like Whole Foods is really wrapping their arms around the hemp revolution.

They now carry the Nutiva Organic Hemp Shake, and in contrast with Whole Foods sometimes steep prices, you can snag this delicious shake at $0.99. It contains organic hemp protein, superfood chocolate blend (organic FairTrade Certified chocolate, organic ramon nuts, organic guar gum, inulin from chicory root, organic mesquite pods), organic Fair Trade Certified evaporated cane juice, and organic chocolate flavor.

If you’re looking for a good dose of fiber to stay regular, you need to pick some of this up. Ellen over at IAteAPie.net recommends it. Mix 2-4 tablespoons of HempShake™ with milk (or ideally, soy milk, hemp milk, rice milk or almond milk), and throw in some banana (optional) and blend to make it rich and frothy. Each serving provides 12 grams of fiber and 7 grams of protein.

If you don’t know me by now, I love anything organic and hemp is definitely a staple in my diet. I’ve been looking for a healthy morning beverage mix and since Carnation just isn’t cutting it, I think I know what my new go-to mix is.

Here’s a recipe courtesy of NutivaHempShake.com:

Chocolate Dream
2-4 Tbsp. Nutiva® Hempseed
2-4 Tbsp. Nutiva® HempShake™
8 oz. vanilla rice milk
1-2 Tbsp. Nutiva® Coconut Oil
1 ripe or frozen banana

Place seeds in a blender with 1 oz. of water, blend into a thick paste, and add remaining ingredients.

Done.

While some may argue that Cheetos and Hostess Cupcakes are the best foods to eat while you’re stoned, we’re going to try and expand your minds and bellies a bit more with some more intriguing options to satisfy your palette.

1.) Pirate’s Booty

More incredible than popcorn, Cheez-its, and Chex Mix combined, Pirate’s Booty is also a healthier alternative for those salty, crunchy cravings. Seriously, try it.

2.) Trader Joe’s: Mango Vanilla Soy Creamy

The first time I tried this, I was very high and it was literally one of the most amazing things I’ve ever eaten in my life. I know some of you are anti-soy, but it’s absolutely a perfect blend of vanilla and some kind of mango sorbet. The combination is orgasmic (and I’m not one to throw around that word.)

3.) Tiramisu

When I initially saw Silvio’s recipe for Tiramipot, I was very excited. Tiramisu is one of those amazing desserts that will hit the spot no matter what your mood. It’s not too heavy with the perfect blend of flavors. It’s not overly sweet and the texture is very conducive to happy, medication time.

To view the rest of the list.

4.) Chips and Guacamole

Guacamole is amazing; you can even buy a $3-$4 kit and make it yourself. Or if you like to wing it, throw together a couple avocados, chopped tomato, chopped onion, chopped Serrano peppers or jalapeño, a few cloves of garlic, some salt and pepper and voilà! Or you could buy it at the store if you’re not kitchen savvy. Avocado is a great source of monounsaturated fat (aka “the good kind”) that can actually help lower your cholesterol.

As far as the chips go, my favorite are Tortilla Chips With An Identity Crisis from Trader Joe’s. A little corn, a little potato and a little brown rice give them a slightly sweet edge with a lovely salty kick and a perfect crunch. But regular tortilla chips are always satisfying!

5.) Caprese Sandwich

SUPER cheap and easy to make! One of my favorite quick meals.
Ingredients:
Bread
Mozzarella cheese (sliced)
Tomato (sliced)
Basil (whole leaves)
Basalmic Vinegar (*optional)
Olive oil, salt, pepper to taste

Step 1: Slice bread.
Step 2: Drizzle with olive oil.
Step 3: Add mozzarella, tomato and basil to your heart’s content.
Step 4: Drizzle more olive oil (and Basalmic Vinegar) if desired. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Step 5: Consume.

You can also remove the bread altogether and have a traditional caprese salad.

6.) Fresh Fruit

Whatever your preference; whether it be pineapple, strawberries, grapes, apples, mango, or even passionfruit, there’s no denying that sometimes all you want is to take a huge bite out of a juicy piece of fruit. Instantly combats cottonmouth and gives you a connection with nature that you don’t get when you’re stuffing your face with Pop-Tarts and Doritos.

7.) Bread and cheese

Forget American and Cheddar and think outside the cheese box. Some personal favorites are Brie, Gouda and Havarti — buy a french or wheat baguette for about two bucks, grab a wedge of cheese for 3-4 bucks, slice it up and you’ve got a great platter of snackage! You can also find cheese packed with apricots, walnuts, truffles, you name it!

8.) Olives

I’m not talking at the bottom of your martini glass; I’m talking hit up the olive bar at your local grocery store and stock up! Like avocados, olives are rich in monounsaturated fats as well as iron, vitamin E, copper and fiber. And if you’re craving something salty, just pop a few olives in your mouth and I can guarantee it will satisfy your salty taste buds! Olives come in a wide variety so you’re sure to find a few that you’ll love.

9.) Living Harvest: Chocolate Hemp Milk

It’s one of those feel-good drinks that takes you back to your childhood and thanks to Living Harvest, you can now find chocolate hemp milk at a store near you! They also make hemp ice cream and organic hemp oil.

Delicious, chocolatey, and much better for you than Nesquik. No hemp seed allergies have ever been reported.

10.) In-N-Out

For those of you not on the west coast, I apologize for even including this but it must be included. If you’ve never been to In-N-Out on a late night (or early morning) stoney run, I highly recommend you do it as soon as possible. More satisfying than McDonald’s, the BK Lounge, KFC, or any other greasy establishment you may be frequenting, In-N-Out and their limited (yet delicious) menu have been satisfying munchies (both alcohol and weed-induced) since 1948.

If you’re unfamiliar with the “secret menu”, try ordering “Animal-Style” fries or a burger “protein style.” For all you vegetarians, they also offer “grilled cheese” (no meat.) And for the manly men who are looking for more meat stuffed into their buns, you can order a 3×3, 4×4, or even 100×100.

If you think I’ve left any necessary items off the list, show me up and post them below. And of course, continued good eating!

This cake is not only awesome for full grown men with a sweet tooth, but Aleta (the color chef) uses lightweight ingredients and even makes her own frosting. After all, there’s no need to snap your belt while enjoying cake.

You don’t need an excuse to bake this, but getting really high before enjoying the Rainbow Cake definitely couldn’t hurt. Aleta also recommends doubling the recipe, it is accurate but the end result is a pretty small cake that could use some extra frosting.

Either way, let’s hope this tastes as delicious as it looks. More images after the jump, and thanks Aleta!
