Suculento Blunts: Conhaque do pêssego

Light, smooth and full-flavored - you’re going to find a hard time getting a better burn. Overall, we found that the 100% natural wraps are both more work and more reward. I don’t recommend them for the beginner smoker but can definitely see the appeal of these wraps to those willing to put in the work.

Sante Neo FX Eyedrops

October 24th, 2006 by Alex

Sante Neo FX

An essential and often forgotten item in the smokers’ toolbelt are eyedrops. Few people, including myself, have taken the time to think about what brand we buy or what other options are available.

You all know the drill - go to your closest Rite-Aid, make a bee-line for the Visine and drive home happy. That was me also, until my Japanese friend introduced me to the eyedrops to rule all eyedrops.

Cool Rating: 0 Cool Rating: 5

Sante FX Neo - produced by Santen in Japan - are one of the most refreshingly powerful experiences you will ever encounter. Santen, who makes an extremely wide range of drops, rates their products on a cool scale of 0 - 5. The labelings have been made easy to understand, even for us Westerners.

The office favorite, and by far the most powerful stuff Santen makes, is definitely the Neo FX brand. First, you must be careful not to go straight to the level 5 drops. These things are powerful, and skipping the first 4 levels of coolness will leave you in for a rude awakening. It’s much better to start at level 3 or so and work your way up.

Cool Rating: 5

So, what are the benefits? Other than bleaching your eyes white, these drops make colors seem brighter and the air crisper. Putting in eyedrops becomes more of an experience instead of a chore. Imagine diving into a freezing cold lake with your eyes wide open. That’s the best way to describe the Neo FX - it’s a wake-up call like no other.

The only catch with this product is the availability. Made and sold exclusively in Japan, it’s extremely hard to find importers. Luckily, after some old school Google digging, an online store that stocks Neo FX has been found! So if you’ve got it in you, drop the Visine and try something different.

Blunt Wrap: Blueberry Burst

September 14th, 2006 by Tim

Blunt Wrap: Blueberry Burst
Ok, enough politics for the day - on to the reviews. Blunt Wrap has released Blueberry Burst ($1.50), their take on the popular fruit filling.

As usual, Blunt Wrap delivers on leaf quality - serrated edges and perfect moistness. Right when opening the blunt you get an intense serving of blueberry. During the roll, you’ll notice it’s more of a confused blueberry scent. Blunt Wrap have mixed something in there that’s hard to identify. Unfortunately, the smoke added no smell or taste, but the leaf itself had a sugary coating on it.

Overall, I liked this wrap. Not too much on the flavor but a solid buy nonetheless.

Golden Wrap: Peach

Golden Wrap: Peach

Golden Wrap is one of the few consistent, quality manufacturers that you can find in the rolling papers game. Because of its leaf thickness, Golden Wrap Peach ($2) is more akin to a blunt wrap than a normal rice / hemp based paper. Also, their use of the best available tobacco leaves adds a parchment type feel to each paper.

When it comes to smell, taste, smokeability and any other category you can think of - Golden Wrap comes through. Gummed leaves make sure you get a strong, even seal when rolling. The peach smell is on target, but not too strong. Everything smokes smoothly and generates a really nice aroma.

When I’m able to say something negative about Golden Wrap papers, tFS readers will be the first to know. Fortunately, today is not that day.

Juicy Blunts: Sweet n’ Natural

Juicy Blunts: Sweet 'n Natural

Zen Smoke has a tendency to go wild and crazy when it comes to blunt flavors, but one wrap from their newest line goes away from this trend. Juicy Blunts Sweet N’ Natural ($1.50) aims to enhance the blunt leaf instead of morph it into something completely foreign.

The wrap itself smells exactly as advertised - a heavy tobacco aroma with a nice dose of sweetness. The blunt tastes semi-sweet and doesn’t add much of a taste to your smoke. This is fine though, because with a name like Sweet N’ Natural, I’d expect nothing less.

Juicy Blunts delivered on this one. It’s a nice change of pace to smoke something that isn’t imitating some tropical fruit or a mixed drink concoction.

Juicy Blunts: Banana Split

September 6th, 2006 by Alex

Juicy Blunts: Banana Split

As the summer draws to an end, Juicy Blunts continues to roll out their experimental, over-the-top flavors. Part of a new batch of 5 different styles, Juicy Blunts Banana Split ($1.50) promises a lot, but only delivers on some.

The banana split is a complex flavor and not something easily captured in a blunt wrap. Juicy starts us off with a pure fudge smell and no hint of banana. Usual leaf quality and the thin ‘easy roll’ strip help out with the rolling duties. The blunt doesn’t give off much of a smell and delivers jack shit in the taste department. I’m still not sure why some JB blunts are loaded with flavor while others have none.

Essentially, this blunt fails to deliver on a promise. Hopefully, the people out there who love fudge will buy this up off the shelves.

Blunt Wrap: Mint Chocolate

September 1st, 2006 by Alex

Brunt Wrap: Mint Chocolate

Mint Chocolate is killing it these days, so we’re here with the newest take on this classic flavor. Blunt Wrap Mint Chocolate ($2) is a magnum (double-sized) blunt. Yes, you can roll 2 blunts with this sized wrap, but they’re not going to be very big ones. Blunt Wrap should add another inch to the width of the double-roll if they want it perfectly sized.

The wrap itself has this deep, rich green color - very distinctive. It smells like one of those hotel room mints that get left on your pillow in the morning. When smoked, it really gives off a mint flavor. You can feel it on the back of your throat and even when you breathe out. It’s like enjoying a danky stick of altoids. Blunt Wrap definitely stepped up their game with this one and did a good job producing a wrap that doesn’t blend with the crowd.
