Malin + Goetz: Cannabisa Candle

January 20th, 2009 by Perry

A marijuana-scented candle.

Malin+Goetz certainly aren’t the first to come up with this idea, but with a cool, crisp pricetag of $48, the Cannabisa Candle might be the most ambitious.

Could someone please explain to me in what scenario it’s useful to spend the money you had set aside for some marijuana on a candle that will make you think of the smell of marijuana, probably also make your clothes smell like marijuana and, yet, still not provide the main benefits of purchasing marijuana?

Perhaps I’m just missing something, but I think my $48 is spent elsewhere.

Hey maybe next they could invent a candle that smells like second-hand cigarrette smoke, so I can light that up after the Cannabis Candle.

Here’s the scent breakdown:

Top notes of orange and lemon; middle notes of fig and pepper; base notes of sandlewood and patchouli. Paired with our fresh green orange Neroli.

Ah yes, fig and pepper, exactly what I think of when cannabis is being burned around me. If any of you bought this candle, let us know what you think.

HOTWICKS: The Hippie Candle

Sick of burning Nag Champas in your room? Want everyone to think you’re smoking pot but don’t want all of the awesome side effects?

Then buy The Hippie Candle – a campy attempt to capitalize on people who are most likely trying to hide the smell of pot.

Let’s read the description:

Treat yourself to a candle and a contact high… don’t smoke the candle.

Say “NO” to drugs, say “YES” to candles that smell like drugs! Yes, THE HIPPIE CANDLE smells like pot, but it won’t get you high and it is legal. This is a great gift for your favorite stoner, college student, or one of those wookie looking dudes that wanders around concert parking lots selling bean burritos and hemp necklaces.

I’m pretty curious here, so help me out. Would you buy this candle for $9 + shipping?

Fresh Cannabis Santal

Cannabis Santal

Unlike the first cannabis cologne that tFS covered, this scent isn’t meant to make you reek like herb. Also, it’s actually in production, which I hear makes a small difference.

Fresh Cannabis Santal is a new, cannabis based Eau Di Parfum. Their product description says:

This classic scent for men is a sensual, masculine blend of rich fruits like kumquat and dark plum mingled with patchouli, magnolia, chocolate, vetiver, and vanilla musk. It’s a memorable scent that leaves a lasting impression.

They might be over-stating the ‘memorable’ part a little, but still, any product that is stocked by Sephora is going to be extremely high quality. This product should help you stand out from the CK1 crowd, so pick it up and let us know what you think about it.

Orange Chronic Air Freshener

August 7th, 2006 by Alex

Orange Chronic Air Freshener

Smell is heavily intertwined with memory and the emotional recall of events. One thing we all know about the green is its powerful and pungent odor. As much as we all love smelling freshly burnt herb, having that smell hang around the next day isn’t too pleasant. And in some cases, for you stealth smokers out there, you need to mask the odor almost immediately. If only there was an air freshener made specifically for weed smokers!

In steps Orange Chronic – the homegrown in California, all natural air freshener. This non-aerosol based deodorizer boasts, on the label, immediate results and up to 600 sprays per bottle. tFS decided to put these claims to the test by experimenting in open rooms, closed rooms, leather cars and non-leather cars. The conclusion is that Orange Chronic is a powerful air freshener with a great citrus scent, but not the end all and be all that it’s built up to be.

In open air tests, the OC did a great job – completely removed all odors in the first 2 sprays and the smell did not linger. In closed tests, the room and non-leather car interior, you could still smell some heavy dank hiding in the air. These tougher conditions took at least 2 rounds of spraying to completely remove the aroma, and the next day, the chronic smell still lingered.

Orange Chronic is about as good as it gets when it comes to specifically tailored air fresheners, but I’m still hoping for something that delivers 100% on the removal of dank smells. Still, this is a step in the right direction, and supporting a local company that manufactures a strong product is the right way to go.
