Crazy Eyed Killaz

January 10th, 2007 by Alex

###

Just in case we have any readers with serious delusions, this post shows that not everyone who smokes pot is a mellow do-gooder.

Mitchell Johnson (crazy looking kid #1) and Justin Trammell (crazy looking kid #2) were arrested early January in northwestern Arkansas with weed and a loaded gun.

Why did I bold the loaded gun part instead of the usual drug terms? Maybe because each one of these guys has been convicted of seriously violent crimes and neither one of them is 25 years old yet.

Mitchell Johnson was one of the two kids convicted in the 1998 Jonesboro school massacre. Mitchell and a classmate shot and killed 5 people and wounded 15 others. Their sentence? Confinement until the age of 21 - a punishment that absolutely doesn’t fit the crime.

Our other contestant, Justin Trammell, was convicted of murdering his father with a crossbow in 1999.

This is pretty much the definition of a gruesome twosome and all of us are lucky they’re off the streets before anyone could be hurt or killed. In this case only, I’m glad the drugs I try to protect will aid in adding jail time to some well deserved prison sentences.

Tennessee Drug Tax?

January 5th, 2007 by Alex

###
Straight from the ‘Are You Serious?’ files, this story makes you wonder if anyone actually reads laws before they get signed into legitimacy.

Tennessee, a forward-thinking liberal state, collected $1.8 million in Illegal Drug Tax in 2006. That’s right, Tennessee taxes things that it is supposedly illegal to possess in the United States.

This tax affects all the usual controlled substances - marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth and crack. It even covers illegal alcoholic beverages like moonshine.

In what I expect is a move by police to drop a “double whammy” on any caught drug dealers, not only do they get jailed and fined for regular criminal charges but also on tax evasion. Interestingly, paying the tax up-front can’t be used in any criminal investigation or prosecution.

The tax rates for 2006 were $3.50 per gram for pot and $50 per gram for cocaine. If any state should be charging a cocaine tax it’s California. I can think of plenty Hollywood stars that would either be dropping a habit or making their CPA work overtime.

The Dangers of Trivial Pursuit

January 4th, 2007 by Alex

###

Well, it looks like the so-called “party in a box” has done it again. That’s right everyone, Trivial Pursuit has claimed yet another victim.

I still remember in elementary school when the D.A.R.E officers came by and warned all of my class not only about gateway drugs, but also gateway boardgames.

It looks like Flurisha Cooper, a 21 year-old from Chicago, just wasn’t fortunate enough to receive the same anti-drug education that I got. She was hospitalized due to over-intoxication from playing a special type of Trivial Pursuit called the ‘Brandy & Blunts’ Edition.

The rules are simple, if you answer wrong you have to either take a shot of brandy or a rip from a blunt. Now this sounds like a board game I can get into, especially since I get every single damn question wrong. Coincidentally, that’s what got Flurisha in trouble also.

So why is this article such a comedy goldmine? Never mind the author being diligent enough to inform us that Flurisha was the yellow piece, it’s because this might be the first recorded case of illness due to “continually providing wrong answers.”

URGENT: Watch Out for the Weed in the UK

January 3rd, 2007 by Tim

Contaminate

Why? Because it’s contaminated!

There seems to be a wide-spread trend occurring in the UK and apparently it’s been going on for awhile. There’s been several reports of ‘crunchy’ bud (a.k.a. sand weed) - smothered in 50-120 micron non-soluble high melting point glass beads - most likely used to increase weight of the crop.

A bloke from the UKCIA forums, budboy00, said:

…after extracting all the sand from a 3.5, .5 was sand. Yes 14.2% sand you imagine that on a larger scale. Its free money for nothing.

When the tainted bud is smoked in a joint or blunt unfiltered, the glass beads melt into a gaseous state and get drawn into the lungs posing very severe health risks to the user. While we’re not definitive about the health consequences of this relatively new discovery, we’re sure this shit isn’t as safe to consume as untainted pot.

Preliminary analysis by an unknown author states:

Smoking this has resulted in mouth ulcers and sore throats/ chesty coughs which never occur when smoking normally due to the good health and only occasional cannabis use of the subject.

DO NOT SMOKE THIS, IT MAY POSE A SIGNIFICANT HEALTH HAZARD AND WE MAY SEE A DRUG TAKING COMMUNITY CRISIS ON A LARGER SCALE THAN THE MPTP CRISIS OF THE EARLY 80′S.

BUYERS: PLEASE RECONSIDER BEFORE BUYING ANY MORE OF THIS, AND CONSIDER THE DAMAGE YOU MAY BE CAUSING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

OTHER CONTAMINANTS SUCH AS NATURAL SAND ARE PROBABLY THE RESULT OF SUPPLIERS COPYING THE ETCHANT METHOD WITH WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO HAND.

So please be careful out there, and be sure to inspect your stash for contaminants!

New Frightening Findings

January 2nd, 2007 by Alex

###
An extremely serious, scientific and ground-breaking study has just released preliminary findings on marijuana usage.

First reported by a woman with no sense of satire Benita, this scientific report should definitely put an end to pot consumption nation-wide.

Here’s an excerpt:

According to researchers at the, Shingle Hollar Institute Of Technology; POT SMOKING PERMANENTLY DECREASES YOUR INTELLIGENCE!

In one, notable study; two female roommates, who had never smoked or consumed marijuana, were the focal subjects, for this ground breaking report.

The two women,(Mary and Jane) both in their twenties; were followed closely, during the 20 year study.
Both, orginally were given pot to smoke in a clinical situation; 5 times a day, for 6 months.
Mary never smoked again and Jane turned into a habitual smoker.

Results of IQ tests, given initially to both, before the study and subsequently once a year, for the following 20 years; shows markedly lower results for both women.

As you can tell, this is some pretty amazing stuff. I can’t wait to see the full report, detailing the scientific data on Mary/Jane. I might even do my own research on the subject tonight.

Mike Tyson & The Police: Together Again

December 29th, 2006 by Alex

###

When I saw the familiar shape of letters grouped together, creating the name Mike Tyson, I got a warm feeling that reminded me of my childhood. Jail sentences, chomped off ears, unforgettable quotes and more - good ol’ Mike has always had a place in my heart.

This time, Mike didn’t do anything outlandish like stomp on the hood of some passer-by’s car. He just came close to crashing into a sherriff’s vehicle and then got arrested for driving impaired and possession of cocaine.

The irony is that the jail he was brought to was the same jail that he had done previous anti-drug work with juvenile offenders.

With that said, all the major news outlets are covering this story, so why not bring out the brighter side of Mike Tyson?

Read on for more…

NORML: 2006 Year in Review

December 29th, 2006 by Alex

NORML
NORML has dropped their annual ‘Year in Review‘ article for 2006. The article targets the top 10 events and discoveries that have affected marijuana policy in the United States.

The majority of these issues have been covered by tFS. Out of all of these articles, I would have to pinpoint the highest arrest rate ever as one of the most striking issues in 2006. It cements the fact there is still so much to be done in the quest for legalization.

So, here is NORML’s list of most influential events for 2006 (in order):

Houston Law Enforcement 20,000lb. Bust

December 28th, 2006 by Tim

###
Louis Mendez, 29, an 18-wheeling trucker, was pulled over and arrested when authorities were tipped off that he was in transport of ~20,000 pounds of marijuana. Deputies, who pulled over the suspect, seized small amounts of cocaine and marijuana in the truck’s cab.

An agent staking out the warehouse the truck departed, entered in hopes of finding the owner when he discovered a few bales of weed inside.

Following further investigation, law enforcement were delighted when they found (and later seized) $20 - $40 million worth of marijuana cargo in the trailer. And to think, this all could’ve been diverted if Louis just had his damn headlights on at 10pm at night; they would’ve had no right to pull him over otherwise.

Charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, it doesn’t sound like Louis has much of a defense case - which ultimately means a long, long jail sentence.

Lt. J.D. Glesmann with the Sheriff Department’s Covert Operations Unit stated:

I’ve been in narcotics (division) since ‘93 and I’ve never seen a load of marijuana as big as this.

I guess that means this was big?

The bales of weed were packaged incognito-style, wrapped in plastic and coated in calcium carbonate to diffuse smell and placed in wooden crates, covered in coal. Lastly, the crates were labeled with car makes and numbers, most likely to be used for national distribution.

Obviously, this was the work of professionals and someone, somewhere is having a really bad day.
