tFS Feature: Movies You Should See at Least Once

July 3rd, 2009 by Erin

Okay, to clear things up before we begin; this is not a top #number movie list. This is simply a list of personal favorite movies I think every herb enthusiast should see once, if not add to their library. Moreover, I’ve also included my favorite accompanying strain and smoking method for each of the selections.

Pineapple Express

  • Favorite Character: Saul Silver
  • Favorite Strain: Pineapple Express (if available) or anything citrusy. Cali Orange, Lemon Diesel, etc.
  • Preferred Method: Joint

Daily Life: 10 Common Marijuana Misconceptions

May 21st, 2009 by Erin

If you’re a regular (or even occasional) marijuana smoker, chances are you’ve been faced with all the stereotypes associated with stoners. As an attempt to clear some of these up, we’ve come up with a list of the most common marijuana misconceptions and accompanying explanations.

1. Pot smokers are unproductive and unmotivated.

This website is built and run by pot smokers. Consider this stereotype defeated already, but I can go on…

As one of the most productive stoners I know, smoking can actually help you become more focused; you just have to make sure you’re smoking the right weed. Pick a sativa or sativa-dominant hybrid to keep you alert – a heavy indica will make you feel groggy and sleepy, which is not good for work time.

2. Marijuana is addictive.

Actually, this is probably one of the most common misconceptions out there. Since it involves inhaling smoke, many people group weed together with cigarettes, forgetting about the nicotine and other addictive substances that cigarettes contain. Unlike cigarettes and alcohol, smoking weed does not result in physical dependency and does not produce any withdrawal symptoms. Only a small minority of Americans (<1%) smoke marijuana every day.

3. Smoking marijuana causes lung damage.

There have been no reports of lung cancer solely associated with marijuana. While the smoke does contain a number of irritants and carcinogens, it’s only a fraction compared to the chemicals crammed in cigarettes, and even heavy cannabis users exhibit no obstruction to the airways, unlike tobacco smokers. Reference Doug Benson’s Super High Me – in over 10 years of heavy marijuana smoking, the doctors told him he has done no permanent damage to his lungs.

Check out the other 7 misconceptions after the jump…

tFS How-to: Create a Day Mobile Smoking Kit (For Women)

May 12th, 2009 by Erin

Mobile Day Kit

Likely when you’re on the go and need medication, you’re looking for absolute convenience. Personally, I don’t have the time to bumble for items I need to get to a higher level. So we put together a checklist for a mobile smoking kit for women. (Don’t worry dudes, your list is coming soon.)

Here we’ve included the essentials. Of course you can add more stuff to your pouch but the goal was to keep it simple.

  1. A small zip makeup bag is great to hold your supplies while you’re on-the-go. You can get a variety of them at places like Target for anywhere from $5-$10.
  2. Lighter wrapped with Bee Line. Bee Line is optional; it’s hemp wrapped with wax that you use as a wick to light your pipe.
  3. Cigarette-shaped one-hitters are convenient and cheap. You can find them at virtually any head shop for anywhere from $5-$10.
  4. Toothpicks are great to unclog your one-hitters. You can buy metal pokers, but toothpicks work just as fine at $2 for a box of 250.
  5. Small medical marijuana container. If you don’t have one, film containers work too.
  6. Every girl and long-haired guy has caught their bangs on fire while leaning over trying to light a pipe. It reeks for about two hours after you do it and is just extremely unpleasant. So try and keep a bobby pin or two in your kit to push away your hair while you toke.
  7. Eye drops are your friend! Clear Eyes, Visene, or generic Target brand, they all get the job done.

Laying down stoney tracks for the last 20 years, Cypress Hill was recently named to a Hip Hop Hall of Fame via VH1 Honors.

LAist magazine caught up with the recording artist at home talking about the state of hip hop today, and his favorite Cheech and Chong movie. He says, “Nice Dreams,” I say “Up in Smoke.”

Psyche.

Ah, those Brits and their dry, biting satire. This top 10 list justifies the evils of marijuana and places it just above tobacco and debt consolidation, courtesy of The Daily Mash. Think The Onion, but more polite and with worse teeth and crumpets.

More Reasons to Love this War on Drugs

September 29th, 2008 by Perry

This particular “Top 10″ details several studies that completely backfired on the government, like one that disproved the “gateway effect” and the inefficiency of prohibition. Also including, a few other lies that have been the government’s crutch to propagate its war on drugs.

See for yourself, but I bet you already suspected as much.
