theFreshScent + SmokeClear Giveaway!
February 23rd, 2007 by Alex
From time to time, a generous manufacturer will send us a big box full of their goodies. There’s no way that the tFS staff can use all of this stuff, so why not get it out to the people who’ll really appreciate it? You guys.
Today, we’re announcing our first giveaway.
The rules are extremely simple – leave a comment on this post (make sure to include a valid email address) and you’re entered to win. How simple is that?
There will be 3 randomly chosen winners who will receive the following:
- 1 customized theFreshScent / SmokeClear T-shirt
- 2 packs of SmokeClear Single-Wide Mini Papers
- 2 packs of SmokeClear King Size Papers
Not bad right?
There are a few basic rules – you must be 18 years or older to enter this giveaway, only one entry per person and you must live within the United States.
Winners will be announced in exactly one week on Friday, March 2nd.
Good luck everyone!

Down For the Day
February 6th, 2007 by AlexWe should have this all figured out by tonight and be back tomorrow morning with some fresh content.
Welcome our New Staff Editor – Ryan
January 30th, 2007 by AlexOne of the driving forces behind this important shift is a guy named Ryan. He’s what I like to call a ‘ganja guru’ and he has now been invited to join theFreshScent team.
So, I’m proud to introduce Ryan as our new staff editor. He will be focusing mainly on medical marijuana reviews and occasionally throwing his two cents in on product reviews too.
He can be contacted by writing to ryan[at]thefreshscent.com or by using our main contact page.
Welcome to the team Ryan!
tFS – Transitioning Forward
January 17th, 2007 by Alex
It’s been almost an entire week since tFS has last been updated. Don’t worry, the government hasn’t kidnapped anyone (yet). The goal has been to re-focus on the core aspects of the site and what makes it one of a kind.
Despite life in general being extremely busy at the beginning of the New Year, the aim is to stay devoted and create more original content. This takes a lot more work behind the scenes, so I apologize for the lack of communication.
Starting next week, original content and product reviews are going to take precedence once again. This might mean a drop in overall post frequency, but it also guarantees a rise in content quality.
Still, it’s important what you think about tFS up to this point. If you have any questions or comments, things you would like to see covered or content that tFS should focus on – this is the post to comment on. Any direct questions will be answered by the tFS staff.
So, here’s to transition and taking the path less traveled. Stay tuned, we’ll be back next week.
…And onto 2007!
January 2nd, 2007 by Alex
Wow, is it really 2007 already? I guess time flies when you’re having fun and the 2nd part of this year really has been exciting for theFreshScent. We’re the highest trafficked counter-culture blog online and none of that could’ve been accomplished without your help.
Both Tim and myself want to send out a big Thank You for reading and participating on tFS. Without you guys around, we’d have no motivation to do any of this.
Now onto 2007 – we’re really looking forward to the upcoming year. There are a lot of new features in development that we believe will help this community grow. We’re never fully satisfied with tFS and the goal is to improve it daily and monthly.
The first feature, which is being dropped in conjunction with this New Years post, is the new tFS Footer. It’s been expanded to show Featured Articles, Recent Comments and our Flickr feed. This will let everyone see what posts are the most popular, who is commenting where and hopefully encourage everyone to participate a little bit more.
Next, we’re going to be introducing more subject material to the site. New products, bigger & better reviews, a brand-new photography lab and some green surprises all factor into the upcoming year. This exclusive content will also be improved upon by new site features.
So, bottom line is that we’re really looking forward to 2007. This will be a year of new & exciting things and we can’t wait to bring them all right to your doorstep.
Old Debris, Meet New Debris
December 15th, 2006 by AlexWell, it just wasn’t generating the interest we hoped. This makes sense. People visit the site for counter-culture news & reviews. Not necessarily to see totally un-related items, even if they might be interesting. So, we’re taking a different approach now.
The new Debris is a lot simpler concept. We screen around 10 – 15 articles a day before deciding what is worth putting on tFS for everyone to read. That leaves a lot of un-used content floating around that no one has the time to locate. So, why let all those articles go to waste?
Everything that doesn’t make the 1st cut for tFS will be placed into the daily Debris pile. We’ll do another review to weed out (no pun intended) the articles that just aren’t worth reading and then post them up as a simple list of links.
The first daily Debris is going to drop later today, so check it out if you need a fix of more CC news.

I’m sure everyone can tell that there’s a lack of new content today.
Sorry to say, both Tim and myself caught the cold virus going around LA at the moment. On the brighter side of things, we’ve stocked up on Dayquil & Nyquil and we’re putting our work boots back on.
Expect plenty of fresh content starting later tonight and picking back up for the rest of the week.
Thanks for being patient.
