State of theFreshScent
October 22nd, 2006 by Alex
A little confused? Wondering where the under-construction page went? Well, don’t worry about it, you won’t be the only one. On the bright side, you are now looking at theFreshScent v2.0! That’s right - it took a lot longer than expected, but once we got rolling on the re-design it was hard to stop.
Now tFS has been polished, buffed and waxed - it’s just waiting for you to come along and take it for a test drive.
What’s been done exactly? Well, let’s take a look:
tFS Headshop Locator v2 - address, phone, directions & 65+ locations
tFS Feed Valley - a new Counter-Culture aggregation service
Native Translation - fast, intelligent, intra-site translation
Site-Wide Streamline - faster loading, more options and more information
Product Breakdowns - how much, where from and what tFS editors rate it
New Peripherals - yep, all those side pages that no one remembers are now completely re-designed
Bug Fixes - archives, site navigation, and comments/trackbacks have all been fixed
That’s all the changes in a nutshell. You can find all the other stuff by browsing around. We believe the wait was worth it and hope you do too. Now, it’s time to look forward to everything in the future and further connecting the Counter-Culture community in its online presence.
Expect new content starting Wednesday, 10/25. See you then.

theFreshScent v2.0
September 20th, 2006 by Alex
theFreshScent is going to be down until the beginning of next week. We are switching hosters, fixing site bugs and generally moving the site forward in our master plan to rule the universe.
Seriously though, our goal is to make this site unique and publish content that isn’t available anywhere else on the web. Hopefully, you all stick around as we take the steps necessary to make our goal a reality.
See you soon.

Damn These Bugs
September 13th, 2006 by Alex
Some off / broken functionality has appeared on the site lately. Specifically, the index reloads on certain posts and the archives is currently broken. Also, we are having an issue getting our translation system to work correctly.
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are well aware of these issues and are taking steps to fix them. Sit tight and we’ll drop an update as soon as there’s something to report. We might even throw in a few surprises while we’re at it…

Also, we’ve removed the big ass, stock markers and replaced them with something a little more streamlined and compact. One more thing, expect another round of location updates sometime next week.
Enjoy.
tFS + Google Maps: Update
August 27th, 2006 by Alex
Currently, this feature is for Firefox users only. Unfortunately, this has to do with IE6 and its crappy handling of dynamic content within rendered DIVs. Even though both Tim and myself aren’t fans of IE, we aren’t neglectic those who use it on purpose. Instead, we’re sticking with this current configuration until the new and improved Version 2 of our headshop locator goes live.
So, to hold you over until the next update, we’ve added 8 new headshops to our database:
A Headcase
Al’s Smoke Shop
Greenleaf Smoker’s Emporium
Hookah Bros
Namaste Glass Studio
No Limit Tobacco Accessories
Sweet Stink
The Spice Co. - Sunset Smoke Shop
These headshops are located closer to the heart of Los Angeles, instead of being closer to the valley and Ventura areas. Also, these 8 are just the beginning, we’ll be adding many, many more locations as we move forward.
As always, contact us if you know of or own a location you would like added to our locator.
Enjoy.

theFreshScent HeadShop Locator
I could fill this space with a nice descriptive paragraph on what it does and what’s in store for the future, but it’s way better if you just visit the feature yourself.
Currently, we are only covering the greater Los Angeles area, but expanded coverage will be added over time. If you know of or own a headshop that you would like added, please contact us. Also, we are open to feature suggestions, so forward those on to us too.
Enjoy.
Update: This feature is giving trouble to IE users currently. The issue is with IE6’s crappy handling of dynamic content. This should be fixed tonight / tomorrow morning, so expect an update around that time. Thanks.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep doing our best to keep tFS up and kicking it in the future.
So, stay tuned tomorrow - there’s going to be plenty of fresh content for everyone to check out!

So sit back, relax and keep checking back for content that’s not made for the aluminum can smoker.
