Newark Man Arrested for DMT Possession

January 19th, 2009 by Perry

DMT

A Newark man was recently arrested with 1.4 pounds of DMT, a drug that’s gaining a reputation as the “businessman’s LSD.”

The reputation comes from the drug’s quick high, which does not last nearly as long as LSD, but comes with a similarly-intense hallucinogenic euphoria and it’s expensive (compared to acid.) Newark police pulled over Yusuf Samantar after he was allegedly driving erratically, which led to a search and the DMT.

The department said it’s their first “dealer-size” seizure of the drug, indicating its rise in popularity, and relatively new status as a party drug. Samantar was near a popular club scene in the region when he was allegedly found with the drug.

now this is something i never heard of. and i like to think i saw, and tried, almost every drug known to man at least once. i made it a “mission” to try all these things from ayahuasca over to smack and coke to peyote and back when i was a bit younger, and most of the stuff castaneda and william s burroughs mentions. and then ended up smoking only weed. because it just is….the only thing worth taking. the rest has either to many downsides, or is just uncomfortable to use. but this sounds very, very interesting. 1h lsd trip? hits you after 60sec? that sounds like the microwave meal of drugs. but what are the downsides? any first hand experience here?

the wiki article says it basically is synthesized form of tryptamine, which is a natural-occurring substance. like thc. what i couldnt find, was anything about the danger of the drug itself. can you OD? is there a chance of mental damage? after effects?

i dont want to promote any drug use here, or make it sound like this something wonderful. i just ask: anyone here who has a first hand experience regarding effects, addiction and aftermath?

oh yes. lsd is a bitch. using it more often then once every blue moon is just plain stupid. and even then, you would have to make sure you have sober people around you. people you trust. with your life. stuff like this is no joke. its not meant for party. thats serious. everyone following a path like that is someone who knows that, i hope. and please dont take lsd for fun, thats not how it is meant to be used. its an instrument to get inside your own head. to see what you are made of. sounds weird, but thats what it does.

everybody who tries it, should know that.

again: lsd is not meant to be used for party. its not like weed. once tried, there is no way back. it WILL change you. good or bad, depends on your personality. and i really, really suggest not to try it.

I have tried DMT twice before.
Both experiences were very pleasant, spiritual, and overwhelming, and I mean overwhelming in a good way. There is virtually no risk for addiction, read about it on erowid.com.

Oh and regarding aftermath, I was left with a feeling of being at peace with the world around me. I am almost positive this has something to do with it already being in your brain, but anyway… They say DMT’s function in the brain is for dreaming, so the night that I did DMT, I was seeing hallucinations as I was drifting off to sleep, they were similar to but not as intense as those experienced during the trip.

I don’t know what you’re saying Silvio but I do acid quite regularly and I think it’s the perfect party drug. It makes you feel good and laugh an just have a good time. I honestly feel ten times more negative sideffects when I smoke pot. Weed makes you feel stupid for days. LSD just makes it hard to sleep and therefore the following day can be rough but days after I feel no sideffects. It’s also not addictive at all whereas weed can be mentally addicting and there are studies now that show that because of the exponential increase in THC content over the years weed is becoming physically addictive.
