New Mexico Approves Medical Marijuana

April 3rd, 2007 by Alex

###

Today is a good day to live in New Mexico.

The Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act, otherwise known as Senate Bill 523, was signed into law on Monday, April 2nd.

This will positively affect the lives of thousands of sufferers who can use medicinal marijuana to improve their day-to-day lives. I know that NORML has been lobbying hard for this one, and they finally got the reward.

This bill not only legislates a medical marijuana program, which will be run by the state Department of Health, but also “protects medical cannabis patients from arrest and state criminal prosecution.”

Although this bill does not allow patients to grow their own medical marijuana, it is a positive step no matter how you look at it.

Get the full breakdown over at NORML, and if you’re in New Mexico make sure to thank Governor Bill Richardson for his unwavering support.

I would very much like to register as a legitimate patient with a registration card and access to the marijuana that does help in my daily struggle with pain. My doctor (in Gallup NM; College Clinic-Rehobeth) is-I feel justly-nervous/afraid of consequences for him IF…I am 58 yrs and began my journey in 1990 with a failed AND botched operation on my lower back at Lovelace in Alb. The did a Spinal Fusion on me, found they left a drain inside me inadvert.sutured to my low back. Next day surg. to remove it… woke up on the table and thrashed around some (tyhought Iwas having a nightmare!) and this did my new laminectomy%fusion no good. My sciatica was improved, the newlly twisted, out-of-allignment low back was not…I have about 12 things listed about my conditions that define my membership in the cronic pain club-I can’t spell most of them-my inner ear is severly damaged, crippled with nerve damage, R.arthritus, osteomylitus, goute, bersytus, cellulitus, etc I need an advocate to help me register and all…mdebatto@yahoo.com (505 782-4870;po box 977, Zuni,NM,87327
