Kingpin: Paradise Peach

March 6th, 2007 by Alex

Kingpin: Paradise Peach

The ZenSmoke blunt I’m reviewing today is Kingpin: Paradise Peach. Right off the bat, you’ll notice the presentation sets this blunt apart from the rest and I’m not saying that’s a good thing.

theFreshScent Product Recap
Category Blunts
Company ZenSmoke
Made In Philippines
Pros Good taste
Cons Too dry
Price $1.50
tFS Rating 6.5/10

For the amount of thought and time the makers dedicated to protect this blunt against the elements, the wrap was very dry. Too dry. It was almost unusable. But with the help of a trusty humidifier, I moistened it enough to be manageable.

The hard-shell plastic tube can be used later for safe blunt or joint transportation (and who knows, that might be a strong selling point to some.) The leaf itself is wrapped around a straw with plastic sheet between the folds.

This Kingpin did smoke nicely though. The taste of the smoke was extremely smooth and leaves a sweetness on the mouth. It even burns at a slower than average speed, perfect for a group session.

Overall, the initial unwrapping of the packaging left me slightly dumbfounded on how I was going to roll with this dry-as-hell leaf. Yet, despite having some bad luck with this selection, I wouldn’t mind trying another Kingpin.

Wired’s Vaporware for Pot Smokers

March 5th, 2007 by Tim

###

Recently, Wired published an image gallery of some of the many vaporizer products out on the market today. Needless to say, their expertise doesn’t lie and cover this segment of the industry, so don’t expect complete, in-depth reviews. We’ll provide those.

Instead of summing up the intro + captions, I’ll use Wired’s exact words:

Herbal enthusiasts — otherwise known as potheads — are putting a high-tech spin on the age-old practice of getting high as a kite. Tokers are turning to specialized devices that vaporize marijuana rather than burning it. The vaporizers get hot enough to extract all the plant’s psychotropic chemicals, but not hot enough to actually combust. The smoker gets a hit of sweet, sticky vapor — and an allegedly healthier high, since the carcinogens and solid particles get left behind, that’s especially attractive to users of medicinal marijuana.

More pictures after the jump…

Medical Marijuana: Master Kush

March 5th, 2007 by Alex

Master Kush

Well, this is a definite first for tFS. The rating and name speaks for itself. Master Kush, an indica strain, is the best medical marijuana money can buy.

theFreshScent Product Recap
Strain Master Kush
Type Indica dominant
Pros Strongest high
Cons Expensive
Price $30/g, $80/8th
tFS Rating 10.0/10

This dense bud is extra sticky and almost appears polar white due to its super crystallized leaves. When you break the nugs apart, a distinct, sweet smell fills the air. This strain really is everything you look for in medical marijuana.

In addition, the smoke has a sweet zip to it and doesn’t leave a bad aftertaste in the mouth. The high hits hard & quickly from the beginning, mostly starting in the head and moving its way throughout in a matter of minutes.

There aren’t many significant negatives that stand out other than the fact that it can be too intense at times. Yes, too intense. And this 10 out of 10 kush strain is not cheap by any means, but hey if you can afford it, saddle up cowboy! You will not be disappointed.

Swisher Sweets: Cigarillos

March 2nd, 2007 by Alex

Swisher Sweets: Cigarillos

After receiving many messages from you guys to do more back-to-the-basics tobacco wrap reviews, we caved in. So today I present the good ol’ Swisher Sweets: Cigarillos. These tiny cigars come in handy quite often for me. I enjoy the taste, smell, and you don’t have to use all your bud filling them.

theFreshScent Product Recap
Category Blunts
Company Swisher Sweets
Made In Florida
Pros Great taste
Cons Tricky to roll
Price $1.00
tFS Rating 6.5/10

Another great thing about these cigarillos is that almost every gas station in California has them… correction, almost every gas station in the entire US have them, so they’re easily accessible.

The mini cigars come in a wide range of flavors from plain to grape to strawberry. And these flavors make quite a difference when lit. One end of the cigarillo is heavily flavored so when smoking it gives your bud an even sweeter taste. However, before getting to the smoking part, first comes the tricky one. You don’t want to damage the little surface area you have, so take your time. An experienced blunt roller should have no problem rolling one of these within minutes, ready to smoke.

I wasn’t big into Swisher Sweets in the beginning but damn it, they wear on you. They’re great for a one to three person session and they usually hold a decent amount of bud if needed.

Allison Margolin = Dopest Lawyer on Earth

March 2nd, 2007 by Alex

This video really puts in perspective how a certain lawyer, Allison Margolin, is trying to make the legal system less harmful for medical marijuana patients and caregivers. She explains the fears associated with having a marijuana license and/or what to do when busted by authorities.

She really is the dopest lawyer I have ever known. She’s not only a lawyer but also a patient. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
