MPP on 17 Year Olds Busted for MMJ
March 22nd, 2007 by AlexThere was a story that broke in San Diego a few weeks ago talking about how high school students were able to acquire medical marijuana licenses.
These students applied their new-found freedom by buying pot, getting blazed at school and then using the license as an excuse after being busted. Not that bright, I agree.
Well, Fox News decided to bring Aaron Houston, Director of Government Relations for the Marijuana Policy Project, onto the TV to explain the MPP’s position on all of this.
First things first, Aaron is not a doctor. Also, Aaron is not a school administrator. These are two facts he makes extremely clear as the video progresses.
I think that Aaron was trying to get a good message across, but fell a little short with his overall television persona feeling somewhat contrived.
A Different Take on the Stash Pocket
March 21st, 2007 by Alex

It’s never been too difficult to sneak a couple joints past security and into your favorite concert. Still, some people don’t have the testicular fortitude to hide things from the man.
The guys over at Slam x Hype tipped me off to an unusual twist on the common New Era cap. If you look closely, there is a hidden stash pocket that’s presence is hidden by an overlapping seam.
This might be just the tool you feint-of-heart music lovers need to sneak your favorite refreshment into an otherwise high-risk environment. These fitted, denim hats are available at the New Era: New York store right now.
The Streets: The Irony of It All
March 20th, 2007 by AlexHere’s a music video that many of you might not have seen from a UK bloke called The Streets.
This track is off his debut album in 2002 and, regardless of whether you dig the music or not, sends a strong message on the current dichotomy created by governments across the world.
While alcohol is heavily consumed and responsible for tens of thousands of deaths each year, it still remains legal with a positive societal stigma. Marijuana, on the other hand, is generally safer than alcohol yet still illegal and constantly associated with negative stigmas.
Even though music artists aren’t necessarily the best people to be taking advice from, The Streets paints himself as someone who can portray both sides of an argument to get his point across.
Medical Marijuana: Mango
March 20th, 2007 by Tim
Most dispensaries tend to have high-profile buds like a trainwreck or kush variant alongside some very random strains. Today, its the lesser known strain that gets the spotlight and it goes by the simple-yet-descriptive name of Mango.
| theFreshScent Product Recap | |
|---|---|
| Strain | Mango |
| Type | Indica hybrid |
| Pros | Large, thick buds |
| Cons | Dull coloring |
| Price | $20/g, $60/8th |
| tFS Rating | 7.5/10 |
As expected, the taste follows the constant theme of this mango bud. It’s extremely fruity and the smoke any hint of harshness or a nasty afterbite. The high hits the body quickly remaining for around 2 hours. On the positive side, the effects aren’t overpowering to the point where you can’t function after smoking.
This hybrid of indica’s is a great experience with its big rich colorful buds and is sure to make and keep you satisfied. Dispensaries always seem to have random strains, however, this one is a diamond in the rough.
4 Million Euro Worth of Drugs Destroyed
March 20th, 2007 by Alex
Ever wonder how Eastern European authorities destroy large amounts of seized narcotics? Me neither.
Just in case you’re still interested, here’s a quick photoset from Macedonia involving tons of drugs, a steel mill and temperatures hot enough to melt the Terminator 1000.
So what exactly was destroyed? Only 150 kilos of hashish, 250 kilos of marijuana, 80 kilos of heroin, 30,000 ecstasy pills and 16 kilos of cocaine worth a street value of almost 4 million Euro.
See more pictures after the jump.
Ed Rosenthal One Step Closer
March 20th, 2007 by Alex
It’s been covered by more than enough news publications, but a story like this is worth re-telling. Ed Rosenthal, longtime marijuana activist and the Guru of Ganja, has taken a large step towards winning his current legal struggle with the United States.
The highly documented one-day prison sentence and resulting appeal of his drug convictions from 2003 are well in the past.
Currently, the United States has brought a case against Mr. Rosenthal that is for all intents and purposes the exact same issue as before, except with additional charges of tax and money laundering heaped on top. Two days ago, the Honorable Judge Charles R. Breyer threw out those charges on the basis of “vindictive prosecution.”
Score one for the good guys.
Additionally, Judge Breyer has urged the government to reconsider its charges against the Ganga Guru and drop their case. The simple question was tendered, “whether it makes sense to go forward with the marijuana prosecution” in light of the judge’s obvious position on this trial.
Score two for the good guys.
It’ll be very interesting to see how the federal prosecutors will handle this current setback after being so thoroughly defeated the last time they tangled with Ed.
You can be sure we’ll keep everyone up to date.
Medical Marijuana: Werewolf
March 16th, 2007 by Ryan
I’m not quite sure why they call this strain Werewolf, nevertheless I find it an all-around good bud. The sativa gives you a light high without a harsh come-down afterwards.
| theFreshScent Product Recap | |
|---|---|
| Strain | Werewolf |
| Type | Sativa dominant |
| Pros | Unique smell |
| Cons | Slightly brittle |
| Price | $20/g, $60/8th |
| tFS Rating | 6.5/10 |
The high starts fairly quickly but never becomes overpowering as it dissipates from your body with pleasant effects. Great for a late afternoon session. The medication lasts just under two hours but is effective.
Tucked away and hidden in the rough, one-off strains can be a nice surprise and this is a great example. A sativa that is a quality bud for the price… yet I am still trying to figure out why it’s called Werewolf.
