ASA Sues US Government for Pot Mistakes

February 23rd, 2007 by Alex

###

As some of you may have read, an important legal motion has been filed by Americans for Safe Access against the United States government. They have intelligently changed tactics away from forcing the US to decriminalize marijuana, but instead admit that they have it inaccurately classified.

For decades, the United States has been ignoring fundamentally proven scientific studies (not to mention thousands of sufferer affidavits) that solidify the stance marijuana is a legitimate medical treatment.

Joe Elford, Chief Counsel for Americans for Safe Access, says it best:

The FDA position on medical cannabis is incorrect, dishonest and a flagrant violation of laws requiring the government to base policy on sound science.

Now, I believe this is the first attainable step towards 100% decriminalization and then (later down the road) legalization. This move shows that not only are medical marijuana groups intelligently approaching their ultimate goal of safe access, but they’ve got the guts to follow it up with action.

I can go on and on about this subject, but this has been reported in many, many different places - I just wanted to throw in my own take. Below are plenty of links that delve into this issue further:

And with all of this scientific data backing us up, it’s always interesting to see a completely biased anti-marijuana post written on a supposedly “progressive” weblog - Progressive U.

It’s awesome to see how the article author gets crucified in the blog comments. Guess this puts the lazy, uneducated stoner myth to rest…

Cherry Lemon Lime Soda

February 23rd, 2007 by Tim

Cherry Lemon Lime Soda

Medicinal beverages are growing in popularity at local dispensaries. Today, I’m reviewing Cherry Lemon Lime Soda.

theFreshScent Product Recap
Category Medicinal Beverage
Company Generic
Pros Good taste
Cons Subtle effects
Price $25.00
tFS Rating 6.0/10

This soda tastes a lot like a Shirley Temple with Sprite. Not bad, similar to regular soda actually. And like the Strawberry Soda we reviewed a month ago, this flavor contains the same amount of active THC ingredient (at 45×660mg.)

The aftertaste is where the regular soda characteristics end, as you can distinctly taste the thin film that coats the surface of your mouth. And that coating reminds you, “Hey, I’m having a weed drink.” Cool. Thanks weed drink.

As for the carbonation, there wasn’t enough of it, and that’s a big minus. I want my soda bubbly. Like my buddy Alex said with his Strawberry Soda review:

These beverages are for medicinal use only and enable patients who are unable to smoke or in situations where it is inappropriate to smoke the ability to stay medicated. The soda takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 1½ hours to settle in. Depending on your body size/weight and if you’ve eaten recently, the effects can vary, but generally involve a subtle body high that lasts for a couple of hours.

If you get a chance to try it out, I would, but don’t get more than one. Not enough pick-me-up for the price.

Medical Marijuana: Hawaiian Sativa

February 22nd, 2007 by Ryan

Hawaiian Sativa

Hawaiian Sativa is something that looks like it just unloaded off a plane from Hawaii. A nice, plump piece of the big island!

theFreshScent Product Recap
Strain Hawaiian Sativa
Type Sativa dominant
Pros Peaceful high
Cons High could be stronger
Price $20/g, $60/8th
tFS Rating 7.5/10

The very first thing I enjoyed about this bud was its sweet garden smell. The nuggets are dense and compact with long thick red hairs. However, the shade of the leaves are slightly darker without an abundant amount of crystals. It could use a lighter shade of green to its color. Other than that, it looks like this crop was just picked off the plant.

The high isn’t as long lasting as you would hope for, but it does give you a great peaceful feeling for about an hour. Sure does help after a long day of work. Overall, it doesn’t pack the biggest punch but it does what is needed for a nice, relaxing evening.

This is one of those random strains you come across once in awhile, not living in the Hawaiian islands, this is relatively an inexpensive buy. A good looking, great tasting, and nice smelling bud that could use a little more kick.

True Blunt: Sweet Cherry

February 21st, 2007 by Tim

True Blunt: Sweet Cherry

True Blunts is a brand that we are going to feature more often on tFS. Their line has expanded in recent months, and with the addition of celebrity endorser Warren G, expect them to make a splash. Today, I’m reviewing the Sweet Cherry flavor.

theFreshScent Product Recap
Category Blunts
Company True Blunts
Made In Mexico
Pros On-point smell
Cons Nothing stands out
Price $1.00
tFS Rating 7.0/10

While all the major players make their wraps bigger and bigger, True Blunts has taken a different route from other manufacturers in terms of product size. The aim has been to keep theirs manageable and the perfect size for a personal blunt. In this, they’ve succeeded.

The wrap itself smells very similar to cherries. This is by far its strongest asset. Everything else kind of drops off afterwards. The wrap taste and texture is solid, but not amazing. There’s no flavor added and no scents added to your smoke. These wraps to burn at a nice pace and the smoke had a definite smoothness to it.
