Cocaine Usage Ruining the Environment?

November 19th, 2008 by Perry

An author @ Treehugger is mad as hell about the effects hard drug users have had on the environment, and he’s not going to take it anymore.

Complaining about everything, from the Guatemalan forest damage caused by smuggler planes to the gradual destruction of the rainforest.

It’s a bit hypocritical since the drug traders usually don’t discern packaging based on their specific environmental effects, but the writer lists myriad harm done to the eco-system by sniffers and slammers.

The video above shows how cocaine is made in the rain forest. Although it’s in Spanish, it’s self-explanatory to understand what’s going on. I think it’s a little more alarming that the children in the video appear to be so young, and not necessarily the damage they are doing to the environment.

How to Setup Your Kid for Failure in Life

November 19th, 2008 by Alex

Step 1) Name him/her after a notorious underworld figure - and don’t forget to fuck up on the spelling.

Step 2) Finished.

I mean, really. This kid shouldn’t even be on trial. His parents should be dragged before the judge and asked if they saw a crack possession charge coming when they named their bundle of joy “Dalcapone Alpaccino.”

I would pay a serious chunk of change to hear just a piece of the conversation about how Dalcapone got named…

Mom: Let’s name this thing Lucciano Pescci Denirogotti.
Dad: Nah woman, Dalcapone Alpaccino.
Mom: Nailed it!

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone else was unlucky enough to be named Dalcapone? Yep, this douche was.

Back to Dalcapone Alpaccino, his whole docket’s available online, but you shouldn’t be able to charge anyone with parents as stupid as this. No matter what he allegedly did, it’s not all his fault, he didn’t even get a fair start.

Student Busted for Dorm Grow

November 19th, 2008 by Perry

A Davis & Elkins College student is lodged in Tygart Valley Regional Jail after the Elkins Police Department searched his dorm room and found a setup for the production of marijuana. In case you were wondering, that’s West Virginia.

The police were tipped off by an anonymous letter, and then let in by a roommate, where they found: “a scale, rolling papers, baggies, several bongs and pipes in the room. Inside a blue glass, police found several germinating marijuana seeds.”

Just how sharp are police in West Virginia?

While police were at the department, a sample was taken from one of the bongs and tested with a Narcotics Analysis Reagent Kit No. 8 … and the test was positive for marijuana.

What the hell kind of scientific test do you need to determine the resin found on a bong in a room full of marijuana paraphernalia came from weed?

High: The True Tale of American Marijuana

November 18th, 2008 by Perry

November 18th is the DVD release date for High: The True Tale of American Marijuana.

I know you’re probably thinking, “ugh, another marijuana documentary,” but don’t be so quick to judge, you might enjoy the film.

Yes it’s propaganda, but there seems to be a little more validity for pro-marijuana material because its aimed at the spread of information and tolerance, not disinformation and persecution.

This particular story has some interesting first and second-hand accounts of people caught up in the drug war, or who had their lives ruined by it. I’m sure there’s some footage in this film you haven’t seen in a dozen other weed documentaries. Sometimes it’s important to put faces and emotions next to the issue, instead of just numbers and history lessons.

Check out a quick trailer above or go to High’s website for more information (and a pretty cool blog).

MMJ vs. Starbucks: San Fran Showdown

Click me for full BS impact.

In its last few desperate days before what we can only hope will be a complete overhaul of its regime, the ONDCP is trying to spread as much disinformation as it can.

The office recently tried to spread the claim that there were more medical marijuana dispensaries than there were Starbuck’s locations in San Francisco. Knowing San Fran, who would ever believe that?

Here’s the link to the ONDCP’s erroneous article and further explanation of their shoddily pieced together map.

Regardless of your feelings on Starbucks, because I have no idea why people spend $5 on a cup of coffee, consider the fact that it’s not even close to true. Who knows where the government gets its statistics from, or why it continually chooses scare tactics that are completely ineffective?

The feds contend there are 98 marijuana dispensaries in San Francisco, compared to 71 Starbucks Coffee shops.

The Department of Public Health lists 24 dispensaries in the city that either have permits or are trying to obtain one.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out ONDCP…

Marijuana Ads I Like

November 18th, 2008 by Perry

The good folks at the Marijuana Policy Project put together this great ad in response to some of the more ludicrous claims by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

Here’s the story behind the ad, now I just want to see one with Obama in it.

Join the Fight for the BC3

November 18th, 2008 by Perry

The BC3 needs your help.

Marc Emery, Michelle Rainey, and Greg Williams are Canadians heavily involved in American anti-prohibition activism for the last 10 years, though remained in Canada throughout. All three are now facing lengthy sentences in federal prison for their pro-marijuana activism.

Emery recently had a plea deal arranged with the American and Canadian governments, where he agreed to serve five years for his part in a running a company that was at one point thought to be the largest importer of marijuana seeds in North America.

Emery was planning to use the time to work for the movement, his political party and a campaign to “overgrow the government” while in prison, and has said several times he has come to terms with the eventuality.

At the last minute however, the Canadian government reneged on the deal and now Emery will have to face another extradition trial June 9, 2009.

Marc had no business outlets in the USA, and never went to the USA to conduct seed transactions. Everything was done openly and transparently in Vancouver, BC. Marc even paid Revenue Canada and Revenue BC half a million dollars in taxes for his income as a “marijuana seed vendor.”

If you wish, here’s the number for Canada’s Minister of Justice to show support or voice your opinion: (613) 957-4222

As the article points out:

If Canadians have broken the law in Canada, they should be given a fair jury trial in Canada. If they wouldn’t face any severe imprisonment in Canada for the charges laid, they should not be extradited to another country to face possible life imprisonment for those same charges.
