Tandis que Thomas' semble extrêmement fâché contre moi pour avoir opinion on the matter, he doesn’t seem as angry at his own relatives for their actions or what they’re putting his family through.

Its amazing to me, how people like you can toss so many of the thoughtless comments and nasty remarks callously tossed not only their way, but the rest of our family, and then sit all teary eyed and watch some “reality” show about addiction and cry to show your (gag) empathy. (than dry up to catch “Star Search”!)

While I have a hell of a lot more information issue than you, I am not prepared to defend them, nor would I be willing to crucify them either. Obviously my Uncle Mike and Aunt Dorothy (Cissy) have problems, serious ones, and have had an obvious problem with drugs and lapse in judgement regarding their children and grandchildren, however they are real people. They love their children.

Lapse in judgement? A lapse in judgement is when you say something vindictive and later regret your actions. It sure as hell isn’t having loaded guns and needles on the floor. I think “huge fucking mistake” would be a better way to describe the Negron’s actions regarding their children. Not a lapse in judgement.

Still, Thomas makes an extremely valid point that Michael and Dorothy are still people. The media, including this blog, can be quick to throw out sensationalistic comments. There just isn’t enough time to get to know the backstory of every single news article in the world. Nobody plans on becoming an addict. Nobody dreams of someday horribly mis-treating their kids. But it happens. We are all mortal and all make mistakes, but you have to be responsible for them. It’s simple as that.

    Thomas Scott Negron Says:

    Alex,

Thank you for being sincere enough to process my response to your article rather then initiating a pissing match, which is what I see most people engage in when they directly disagree with someone out there. You have my respect in this regard.

I will agree that I am heavily influenced by the fact that they are my relatives, but not in the sense you are insinuating. I believe I stated in my rather pointed letter, that I am not prepared nor inclined to defend them, and in my opinion, I didnt defend them, what they have (or haven’t?) done.

The only issues I raise which may be interpreted as defensive in nature is your misinformation based upon yours, and the mainstream media’s ignorance, and the idiocy of the court system whcih played a very large part in producing the situation which you were treated to a “posed” snapshot of.

“But I’m puzzled as to what exactly I’m misinformed on. If people wanted to know the entire sad life story that led to a couple raising chilren & grandchildren in drug-filled conditions, they would buy a book about it. ”

(Is that, instead of watching “reality” shows?)
Thats just the point, you spew regurgitated sensationlized misinformation, again, based on what you have inbibed.

    “RAISING”, “Forced to live in”

I have been to Georgia several times in the past year & the past eleven years to check in on my Aunt and Uncle, because like I mentioned before, this crap has been going on for longer than I care to say. I assure you the condition of that environment was nothing if not the very opposite when I personally was there recently.

The impression given by the media and yourself, is that they live like that, always have and and this is simply not the case. You have regurgitated the term “Forced to live in” and “Raised in” and think nothing of it.

Fact is, when people get strung out on drugs, any environment could reasonably get into that condition within 48 hours. Many times and in MANY instances I see media reports sensationalizing news articles time and again lacking in COMMON SENSE.

The “huge F__king mistake you refer to” is in fact a truth you may subscribe to because again you know absolutely nothing about these people. When you successfully raise several children some of who have turned out to be quite successful and seemingly “well adjusted”, then find yourself in a situation as crazy & surreal as this one, does this make you a dispicable person over all? Can they be judged to have always been this way? Whose to say? I haven’t tried to do so either way and Well, the justice system surely will EVENTUALLY.

Nonetheless, I am sure they will pay dearly for their mistakes in this zero tolerance climate, rush to judgement contradictions we live in.

As for the personal comments (which is what got this started for You in the first place) about me being an angry redneck from Florida. I am of Spanish and Taino Indian Decsent, born in New York City, raised and educated from a very young age in Santa Barbara California. Ex-world class verticle Skateborder and amatuer Surfer. multiple civic award winner etc etc. (bla bla) What Im saying is:

I, nor anyone I know would probably be inclined to refer to me as a Red Neck from Florida (although I was recently accused of having become somewhat conservative by someone who has known me for almost thirty years)

However if because of my current residence in the “Sunshine State”, buy American regardless, am proud of this fact, you prefer to classify me as a redneck, and in doing so pidgeon-hole me with the quick to action, resourceful, sometimes violent (when needed), fiercely patriotic, fiercly loyal, somewhat stubborn, somewhat militant, anti establishment “fringe militia type” NRA life member and owner of a shit load of fire arms. Yep you nailed it. Thats me. I don’t shoot until I see the whites of their eyes. But let me tell you something about rednecks pal:

At least they are sincere. I have never met better people in my life. For all of their perceived “faults” they will be the first ones to take in, feed and comfort a total stranger down of their luck, Ive seen it many times.
With Southerners, it may not be comfortable all the time, but you always know where you stand. I would rather be around people who work for a living and will have no problem saying whats on their mind than arrogant, patrionizing assholes who think they are somehow smarter than everyone else because of some stupid reason or another. Nuff said.

“This is smoke and mirrors. Thomas can make assumptions about me just as easily as I can make assumptions about him. The point of my response here is to hopefully get a deeper understanding of this entire, tragic story. Not to trade insults with anyone.

THATS THE WHOLE POINT! How does it feel to have someone make assumptions about you? ( I will say: Tragic defined, is when something happens to you as a matter of chance. this is not the case with regard to my Aunt and Uncle. albeit with the children being caught in it yes, but again I blame the system for this, because I KNOW the circumstances.. Mike and Cissy made their own bed with regard to addiction. This I call bad judgement.

I wonder if Thomas has sent any emails to the local news outlets who reported on this story, or just to me because I’m an approachable blogger. Not to mention other blogs with even more damning responses.”

Don’t worry, Im getting to them too. I have no problem with picking on the “big”guys too.

I made assumptions based on your original article, only my assumptions were just that instead of blown out of proportion.

    .Which brings me to:

“Aloof arrogance is not what I was trying to convey. Although, if I just wrote wishy washy posts about what I feel in my heart, instead of a decidedly solid opinion, who the fuck would want to read this blog?”

Yes, and this brings us to the point of my original response to your article. Your sensationalizing the story to garner readership is weak, almost as dispicable when there are issues in this society (including this drug addiction-parenting one) which, objectively raised and truthfully reported are much more valid.

P.S. The bitch slap was not a threat. If it came across that way, I apologize. How could I have been aware
that you don’t know the difference between an observation and a threat?

Like I was trying to point out: What if it was your family?

Your mom was in a bank while it was getting robbed, and somehow got caught up in it,
(Decided it wouldnt hurt anyone to pick up and pocket a 100 bill left on the floor by a robber)
and was arrested and accused of robbing the bank because someone saw her picking up a $100.00 bill after the robbers left?

    Sincerely
    Thomas
