aLeda: Transparent King Size Papers

We’d show pictures of a leaf, but the damn things are see-through…

There’s some buzz online about see-through papers appearing in the smokosphere. Science hasn’t figured out how to cure world hunger yet or create clean water sources for all but the rumors are true - we do have cellulose based, transparent rolling papers. Ahh, technology at its finest.

aLeda Papers is the Brazilian company behind this innovation. Made from natural vegetable cellulose (and completely gumless) - there is absolutely no taste, smell or odor in any leaf. The manufacturing process leaves out chemicals like lead or arsenic, making it a much healthier smoke. Box graphics are unique with bright colors and actual embossing of the logo. Only problem is a set of stupid little tabs that are supposed to keep the box shut, but really do nothing at all.

aLeda’s description says King Size, but the leaves are narrower than you might expect. Also, they’re slightly more difficult to roll because there is no crease and the entire paper wants to stick to itself.

These guys light very easily, the cellulose naturally wants to burn. Unfortunately, a few issues do surface once the papers are lit - the cherry doesn’t stay lit consistently. Airflow can also get restricted once you start approaching the end of each leaf - they just don’t breathe as well as hemp or rice based papers. This contributes to the nice, slow burn for the first 75% of the papers but hinders it after that.

Basically, these papers are pretty bad ass. They’ve got some positives and negatives, but damn will your friends trip when they see an invisible wrap. It just takes a couple of tries to learn how to roll the aLeda’s and then you’ll be digging them for everyday use.

I’ve smoked these and the comment above is correct. After a few tight rolls you’ll learn to give them a bit of slack. It helps if you are used to rolling with slim papers (rizla slims for example). The only problem with them I can see is that if you are particularly sweaty (in a club for example) they’ll be impossible to roll and may dissolve in your hands (which paper papers do anyway I suppose).

They do have no detectable flavour though which is great, I’ve always preferred the finest papers I can get (less paper=less paper flavour=more herbal flavour) so this is a big bonus in my book.

Exactly. One of my favorite brands are Smoking Papers, specifically the Greens. Working with thin, king size papers like that preps you for the aLeda’s.

I thought about the sweat issue too. Luckily, I prefer more relaxed environments where I have nice & dry hands.

    Cheers,
    Alex

We recently were given a few packages of the king sized aLedas and truly love them, except for the afore-mentioned skinny width. After tending to and harvesting skicky green, it is definitely refreshing to SEE it while you partake and to not have the flavor affected.

KUDOS to the maker … and please make wider ones!

We tried these today because a friend of ours got them for free, as a promotional giveaway. the owner of the shop they’d be the next popular thing, and a big hit. Needless to say we loved em! No paper taste and all u taste is what u roll. NICE! They do get a little hot at times but definatly worth it!!

yeah, these were nice for a bit, but it really bothers me how they dont stick real well when stuck with saliva. is anyone else out there using something other than that? i find that my stick will have unrolled by the time im at the roach. these are second choice for me under blunts. they are nice and strong though, never broken one, and you can fold them lengthwise to help make a holding surface to put in the sticky
